I looked into it a bit and they are made in Taiwan, and are a replica of the Japanese ballast. That said so are almsot all HID's I would imagine.

just take them from a crashed lexus or mercedes
How exactly is that free? I don't know of any crashed lexus or mercedes around here, or do you steal them from a junkyard or something? I'm interested, as I'd love to have more HID's to play with. Dad after all still needs foglights, and a nice bright reverse light would be nice as well haha.

Anyways I went with the XenTec lights and they should be here tomarrow, since they ship localy, if I have any problems I can return them without shipping.

Re: Cheap reliable HIDs?

Hey everyone I got the kit and it looks good but I' having some major issues with the install.

It seems that my dad's 3500 shuts off the wiring harness when the HID's are installed because it thinks there is a problem with the bulb.

I measured with a volt meter and there is no power to the harness, but soon as you plug the stock bulb in it fires right up. Anyone have a 3500 that can help? I'm assuming I have to bypass a relay.

Re: Cheap reliable HIDs?

update to this old thread. Had to use a bypass kit for my dads truck in order to get the HID's to fire up due to silly dodge designers. But they have been workign flawlessly for like 2 years now.

Xentec smae brand.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=390000451993

They are very white @ 5000k and I just bought another kit for $44 after 30% ebay cash back! I like my dad's kit made in taiwan better than my JDM kit which is made in Japan. Kinda crazy but it was a much better value and fires up 100% of the time. Then again maybe I just need to run some relays for my JDM's to have an easier time starting up. The headlights come on, but the passenger side foglight sometimes needs to be started twice. So much for getting better quality made in Japan (although it is still true of most everything). :P
