Re: Want to Change from Tow to Power Fold Mirrors

Can you go from an 04 LE to 06 LE upgrading the options of signals and power folding?

Re: Want to Change from Tow to Power Fold Mirrors

I'm going to throw another question out there...if you don't care about the power folding option, can you just use the existing switch and "plug and play"?

I have an 08 CC LE with Big Tow (power mirrors with heat and memory) and desperately want the 06/07 (or 08) "regular" LE mirrors with the signals, heat, memory and puddle light.

Re: Want to Change from Tow to Power Fold Mirrors

I wanted to update my personal changing of the BT mirrors on my 07 CC to the typical LE mirrors...

Finally got to doing it this weekend, after they have been sitting in the box for about a month on the garage floor! Anyway, here's some info...

1) Yes, they do fit, swap for swap, as long as it is the same trim style, as has been said before. Mine was LE to LE.

2) Pay attention to the door panel removal, dig up as much info as you can. That was the longest part of the deal...removing the first door panel I tried.

3) Use a wire tied to the OLD mirror's wire jack... that way you can just pull it through as you are removing the old mirror... then re-tie it to the NEW wire jack and pull it back through from the inside of the door... easily done!

4) If you don't use the wire or string deal... you may slide the new mirror's wire jack around the side of the steel trim inside the door incorrectly. This will lead to NOT being able to raise your window... (I know, I did it..)

5) The biggest point I have to make that has not been mentioned... the three 2" long bolts that come off of the 3 prong plate on the inside of the door arch are TOO LONG for mounting to the normal LE mirrors (w/puddle lights, heat, and turn signals). They appear to be longer for the length of the BT mirror plate. I simply matched them up to make sure they were the same thread, etc... then I cut off about 7/8" of an inch of thread and they were fine to go... worked like a charm. Otherwise, I would have run out and bought an 8mm bolt the proper length... but it was Sunday eve and most stores are closed... oh well.

6) The other thing that goes along with the above point... the new mirrors that Nissan ordered for me (LE version) came with 4 screw thread points... you have to remove 3 of these as they are not needed, because they are the same holes that are needed for what I mentioned in #5 above. They are tight to remove... but patience works. They came out nicely and are the same thread size as the bolts.

Otherwise, all works fine. Plug and play. The longest part was getting that first door off...and figuring out the bolt issue. Otherwise, the actual install time is pretty minimal.

Check the classifieds, I have a brand new set of BT mirrors that I need to sell !!
