Question Want to Change from Tow to Power Fold Mirrors

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the board here and will be picking up an '07 Crew Cab fully loaded on Tuesday.

I already have one mod I'd like to make and get some opinions on... While the truck will fit in the garage fine with the tow mirrors, I'm thinking I would be much happier with the Power Fold mirrors. Questions follow...

1. Anyone done this modification either on their own or via the dealer?
2. If it can be done on your own, anyone know where a writeup might be on the installation?
3. What is invoice/retail for a pair of the power fold mirrors?
4. Any other place I can get them other than the dealer?
5. Anyone know of a supplemental mirror option for when I'm towing the big toys?

Thanks!

Re: Want to Change from Tow to Power Fold Mirrors

As long as it's the same trim (ie. LE to LE or SE to SE) they plug will fit. You will however need to get the switch to make it fold. Keep in mind to that the power folding mirrors didn't come along till 06, you could find someone with an 06 or 07 with power mirrors that want to trade for BT mirrors, that way you don't have to spend money for an extra set.

Is there a way to make the BT mirrors power fold, or is that an impossible task?

Re: Want to Change from Tow to Power Fold Mirrors

I wondered that as well, since the stockers have this option. I have not seen any body do this. I'm not sure the mechanism would work either since the BT mirrors have the slide rails. Could be too much of a moment arm on the actuator? Something to look into.....

Yeah, wouldn't you need to switch out the whole driver's side panel that has the switch on it? I'm talking about the panel that has all the power window controls on it on the drivers door.

Yes you do need a switch. The switch plug right in to if you have an LE (06 or newer).

Re: Want to Change from Tow to Power Fold Mirrors

Alright, need some help on this topic... I'm ready to pick up my new 07 Titan, but wanted to have the dealer switch out the tow mirrors for the normal LE version mirror. They won't! I've been negotiating for 2 weeks with them, they finally ordered the mirrors to try them, but now, service will NOT put them on because it would violate Nissan's liablility for warranty, blah, blah, blah...

So, thinking about buying the truck and then buying mirrors and doing it myself, or a private garage do it.

Can anyone here give a definitive answer that it can be done?... that would be 07 Titan Crew Tow mirrors w/heat, to 07 Titan regular mirrors with heat, puddle lights, turn signals and electronic adjust... if the electronic fold works, great, if not, no big deal...

Also, where could I buy these mirrors aftermarket...? Replies would be great since I need to make up my mind on buying or not by this weekend.... thanks all...

Re: Want to Change from Tow to Power Fold Mirrors

I have a set of power fold, heat, memory mirrors on my truck. I'd be willing to swap with you under one condition. You will have to send me yours first. I will throw in the switch as well as long as you send me yours. PM me if interested.

BTW: My mirrors have the black plastic caps on them, not chrome.

Re: Want to Change from Tow to Power Fold Mirrors

Want to ask if I'm reading this right. To go from Big Tow Mirror to a "Regular" mirror you need to stay within trim levels ie: LE to LE and SE to SE?

I have an LE with Big Tow mirrors and want to change to regular. Would an SE power, heat be a direct swap for an LE BT power heat and memory?

I know the mounting is a little different I just need to know if any electrical differences.

Thanks

You need to get the LE mirrors plus a switch.

The mounting is easy. Both mirrors will mount. Your problem is the electric connector. The LE models have a 10 wire plug and is black in color. The SE has a 5 wire plug and white in color. I dont think LE's come with regular mirrors.

You might want to look into Club Armada and have one of those LE Mada's trade mirrors with you. The Armada's dont come with big tow mirrors. I know that the LE mirrors for the mada's are the same as the Titan ans they mount the same.
