Custom Volant Intake G3 Plexi Cover

Vaughn made me a custom clear cover made of plexi for my Gen3 Volant intake..Here is the first version prototype. He is making a newer one to get a better fit. The one pictured is 1/8" thick, however the new one will be 1/4" thick. It should make for a real nice cover when completed..I'm gonna have a "smoke plexi" one as well as a clear one. I'll have pictures of the 1/4" smoke and clear ones toward the end of the week. For now, here is the clear prototype. Once complete, I'm going to have the clear cover sandblasted in a design to match my new painted engine cover that should be coming in the coming weeks.

Thanks Vaughn (vshortt)!!

Re: Custom Volant Intake G3 Plexi Cover

that looks really good! it will look even better when matched to your engine cover. i like the fact that you can see the filter but still protect it with the cover! sweet new mod!

I'm gonna get it sandblasted into a design to match my new painted engine cover..should look pretty sweet when done. So it will be clear in the parts that are not sandblasted, and a white sandblast type look on whatever design I get on it.

Re: Custom Volant Intake G3 Plexi Cover

The one pictured is actually just a prototype. The new one (which I now have in hand as of about an hour ago) is slightly modified to not have so much "play" as the one shown. However, as anyone with a Gen 3 Volant knows, the "boxes" are not exactly the same so some amount of play is necessary for the variance that will be inevitable from box to box. It's the only way to produce them on a mass level. Also, the new one is 1/4" instead of 1/8" (which is pictured) so that it will sit flush with the top of the well instead of recessing below the top of the well. We (Ag and I) thought it'd be a nicer look. Plus it's twice as sturdy.

There's screws holding it down at all four corners. If you're talking about Ag's picture, his is only a prototype for getting the shape perfect. There are no holes drilled at this point.

That hasn't been cut for screws yet. That one was just made for test-fit. The completed one will use the same screws and holes as the original cover.

Nice mod, all that is left is to sand the back side minus any design and then install neon.
