Thats pretty informative. Didn't know the housings made such a difference. Good reading.

Housings make a huge impact on the dispersion of light. If you want to intall HID into stock titan headlights, and you need to get D2R bulbs which are made for a reflector based housing.Projector HID kits use D2S bulbs which are designed for projectors.
Using the wrong bulb can have a detrimental effect on light dispersion and the amount of usable light.
GREAT info. I really appreciate it. That is why I love this site. Now I have to re-do my thinking process of which kit to buy. Thanks again! Another note. I'm having problems finding HID kits with D2R bulbs. There are replacements, but Not sure what kits come with. Also, from the reading I understand there are only 2 types of kelvin?

There are many kelvin ratings! 3000k for example is yellowish light usually for fogs; and you can basically go up to 12000k which is a really purplish light but not really functional. OEM hid are 4100-4300k, that color temp produces the most visible/usable light.
When buying a kit, personally I would recommend a 6000k since it emits a good amount of light and it has a touch of blue. Im not sure if any kits come with D2R but you can always ask for D2R bulbs when making the purchase.

Are the HID kits true. After reading, sounds like retro fits are more affective. Or will I still be able to see a substantial difference with a 6k HID kit? By the way, awesome info. Just when you thought you know something. LOL

HID kits are effective to a point. If you parked 2 identical cars side by side, 1 with stock halogens and the other with a pnp kit you would see a difference. There is more light output, but its scattered, theres hotspots and the light isnt even. If you want more visibilty quick then yeah get the kit, but keep in mind you wont have the best visibility, you will be emitting glare to oncoming traffic and who knows how long your kit will last.
A retrofit is definitly the way to go IMO. I was gonna buy a kit but then i came across www.hidplanet.com, and now i have a custom retrofit setup. The lighting is awesome and im glad I didnt take the easy route and get a kit.

I did the testing in my 05 --- click the link and read if you want. This was a great MOD for me. My kit is still going strong and I would do it again. But then again I drive a lot.

I read your link, do you have any night shots you could post up? Im glad your setup worked out good. What type of kit do you have?
Kinda get sticker shock with the retro! Do they even have retro fits for Titans? I'm screwed because I need my vehicle. I don't have another vehicle. Well, if it was warmer a motorcycle.

Thanks for the link. Let me get this straight. The Titan needs a retro kit or a converstion kit. I can't just put in HID bulbs. Look for Phillips bulbs & ballast. 4300k will emit the most light, 6000k second with more of a blue tint. Also use D2R bulbs. WOW! Is all this crap really worth it! LOL

I did my own retro. Bought an oem setup and then intalled them into my stock housings. It takes a while to finish but i felt it was worth it.
