tow battery upgrade

I have a 2006 4x4 kc XE and it has a stock battery, I was thinking of upgrading to the larger tow package size battery. I do have a trailer with electric braking. Is this just a simple swap?

Re: tow battery upgrade

So are you asking if swapping a 650 cca battery for something like a 750 cca battery is easy? It would be no different that simply replacing your battery, provided that the new battery is the same group size.

Re: tow battery upgrade

Go aftermarket, don't get the battery from Nissan. Much better quality available, even in conventioanl lead acid batteries. Many like the Odyssey and Optima batteries. Search for info on batteries on this site. Make sure the post are oriented the same way.

Stock battery was A 24F size and the BT upgrade is a 27F. Advance Auto had them in stock when I got mine.

Re: tow battery upgrade

Do not buy a crappy OEM battery. TitanBlue is wise.

Re: tow battery upgrade

Thanks I just wanted to make sure there would not be any issues if I were to go with the large size avaliable with the big tow. My standard battery is already shot and it is not even a year old.

Re: tow battery upgrade

Would a battery be covered under the warranty. It is not even a year old?

Re: tow battery upgrade

I "think" it is, but you'll get another OEM battery which does not have a reputation for longevity by the members on this site. I'd invest in a good battery as RobKar did and appreciate the reliability and personal safety it therefor provides. Check the member type warehouse stores (i.e. Sam's Club) for good pricing, about 30 dollars less than normal retail.

Re: tow battery upgrade

The Interstate Industrial truck battery number C27F-XHD is a perfect fit replacment for the Titan's Big Tow battery for about $85. Excellent cold weather battery - it delivers as much CCA at 0 degrees as many of the competitors offer at 32 degrees. With the weather I have been experiencing (sub zero here folks) it has been the perfect low cost high quality solution. Link is to the interstate web site - check it out - mine has performed flawlessly.
