OEM vs. Aftermarket Fogs?

I want to get a set of fogs and run them as daytime running lights. I have seen a bunch of threads for the mod to allow the OEM fogs to be run with the parking lights but is anyone running them as DRL's w/o any other lights on?

Knowing that this is how I want to use them would it just be easier to get some aftermarket fogs? If so, what would be my best option as far as quality, look, and ease of hookup? If I do get some aftermarket fogs is there anywhere that I can pick up an OEM switch to use (not a stalk but just one of the black switches that fit in the blanks under the radio).

As is always the case, less expensive is always better but I don't want to bolt some cheap crap that looks like $hit to my truck to save a few pennies.

With OEM you can mod it to come on with Ign. That mean when ever the key is to Ign. the fog lights come on. instead of getting your 12V feed from the parking lights just get it from an Ign. source. Off course this can also be done with after market lights also.

Of course then he still has to buy the OEM stalk which is $$$ to get the same stock look, or I guess like you said he could *** his own switch and use a relay and achieve the same effect like you stated. I'd just get some lights that fit in there and wire up your own switch, and wire that to the ignition with a relay.

Radio Shack has relays and switches.

So it would go like this:

Ign -> Switch -> Relay

from Relay you would have fused wire to battery
from relay to Foglights.
