Lazer Lite tonneau

Anyone using one? If so, do you recommend it? Any problems. What did you pay for it? Thanks.

I agree..I have to use a polish on it occasionally...but I love it. Secure, durable(you can stand on it!), dry, and locks great. Highly recommended

Re: Lazer Lite tonneau

Your comments re the fading of the powder coat concern me. I know a great powdercoating co. do you think that it would be advantageous for me to have it professionally re-powdercoated before I installed it?

Hey Eat,

That would be cool if you could get that done, but I'd talk to the guy over at Laser-Lite first (he's a great guy, his name is Scott ) , to make sure there's no finish compatability issues.

Re: Lazer Lite tonneau

you can't re powder coat it ,because of the way it's built. i had mine looked by a powder caoting co, they said it would destroy it. the top is glued to the inner structure. i would call the guys at lazer lite and ask if they use a different powder coat. i still thinks it's a great cover

Re: Lazer Lite tonneau

I e-mailed the company about the powder coat fading issue and this is the repy that I got back (and yes I asked him if it was OK to post his reply as his response was to me not necessarily a public comment):

"We switched powdercoaters in Feb. and although we pay more for the powdercoating now, the finish is extraordinarily durable. The key difference is going with a huge company that uses a chromate conversion process ($$$). The older powdercoater did just fine, but we wanted a better finish and we are using the same powdercoater and powder and process as the makers of the Minnkota trolling motors (for boats), so we know we are getting a decent finish.

Any “fading” is usually due to the sun combined with dirt and build up within the texture of the powdercoat. I suppose if one waxed the cover upon receiving it, the dirt build up would be minimized?

Anyway…I really like the new powdercoater and they do a great job:

Inserted Note: I had to delete the links to the powder coating company that Scott had here in his e-mail response because they were not allowed by Titan Talk since I have less than 15 posts.

Re: Lazer Lite tonneau

I'm looking to get rid of my fiberglass and get a lazer lite. Group buy would be nice.

And if anyone in FL needs a Galaxy Black fiberglass tonneau, let me know. There's nothing wrong with it, it just came with the truck and I need to take my cover off and put it back on frequently so it's not practical for me.
