Re: need help choosing a bed cover?

I have a ARE LSII on my titan now, its not low pro, but a little more roomy, I usually have 2 large rubbermade tubs, and a large tool box (it takes up as much room as a bed box) in it, and still have room, and its waterproof. I paid some where around 900.

I also have a snugtop snuglid SL on another truck, and it looks good, if you want to go with the streamline look. I did not purchase it, so I don't know how much it cost.

hope this helps.

Re: need help choosing a bed cover?

I had a Retrax on my last truck, and it is the best cover I have ever had experience with. My Titan CC bed is too short for me to give up the 11" for the cannister (if I had a KC, I'd have a Retrax in a heartbeat).

I can also tell you that if you are considering one of the soft tri-folds, maybe reconsider. Nothing against the guys that have these and like them, but they are, in my opinion, a total PITA. Glad I got mine used for cheap becuase I would be quite pissed off if I paid full price.

The Access roll-up soft covers seem to me to be a little more rugged than the truxedo brands, but they are both very nice.

Re: need help choosing a bed cover?

Try www.checkerpro.com. They have a nice, light, hard cover that I have put on my last three trucks.

Re: need help choosing a bed cover?

For a soft cover, check out Access Cover, Extang Trifecta (simple design but effective).

Retractable covers are not cheap, they all are about $1,000.

The best bang for your buck hard cover is Undercover at about $650.

Re: need help choosing a bed cover?

I have an Advance Cover on mine whic is very low profile and folds up into 4 pieces. If you want to remove it it , sinply lossen two screws and it comes out. Fairly watertight, plus it locks and if you want to haul something you can fold it up rather than having a one peice. The other thing is you can stand on it as well. Here's a pic. Not a godd one as I'm at work and just happened to have a couple of the truck here.

I agree. I have the Undercover and I'm very happy with it. Lightweight, durable, waterproof & lockable. My wife and I can take it off in about 30 seconds. I think it weighs about 55 pounds.

Re: need help choosing a bed cover?

I have the roll N lock. Little expensive, I guess, but well worth it. I can roll all the way back when needed but what I really like is the halfway back lock. I lock it half way back with my 3 labs leashed in the back tied to the utiltrac. That way they can go under for cover from rain or just shade.

When locked closed I think it's as safe as any and is completely waterproof. I think I paid $1000 and installed myself.

Yea, as far as retractables go, RollNLock is a workhorse. I rarely hear of any problems.

Re: need help choosing a bed cover?

We have a SnugTop on our Titan. Its really nice. You can stand on it and it SHOULD support you (that's what the guy said). It also come painted from the factory. It removes easily for when you have to carry large cargo. I think retail is around $650 - $750.

Re: need help choosing a bed cover?

It all depends on what you are looking for but I really like my Bakflip. It is one of the cheapest hard covers, looks great, low profile, can't be opened without opening the tailgate (good and bad) but I prefer this design because it allows you to secure the bed without having to deal with any extra keys, and I don't have to worry about removing it if I have something large to haul since it folds up flat against the back window...some critize this design for blocking visibility but if you are hauling anything that requires you to open the cover all the way it is going to block the back window anyways so the design makes perfect sense to me.

I have had it for almost a year without any problems. It isn't waterproof, a high pressure carwash gets a little spray in the bed but I have never had anything that wasn't near the tailgate (I haven't sealed the tailgate and it lets in some road spray) ever get wet during normal driving. If for some reason you do want to remove them the panels attach with just 2 bolts.

Hmm... that may be exactly would I'm looking for... I was wanting a flush, lightweight cover.... Have any comments on how "water resistant" they are? This is a concern being that I live in Louisiana

Re: need help choosing a bed cover?

They come with a bulb seal that goes all the way around it. I get a tiny amount of water in around the two hinges that are on the front, mostly because of the plastic edge on the titan that isn't on the front of the bed rail, but none in the back. Get the quick release hinges, and all you have to do is tilt it upward and slide the hinges apart to remove it. It weighs maybe 50 pounds I remove it by myself when I haul stuff. It is great when we go boating, keep all our stuff locked under it all day on Sunday when we are out on the water.

Re: need help choosing a bed cover?

Access fold up cover is great. $500 is cheaper than most, I 've had mine for 3 years no problems, no fading ,cracking, tearing,no buttons or snaps. Simple 2" wide velcro strips on each rail seal the sides while an aluminum bar locks down at the tailgate. when you roll it up, you can do it from the side with one hand and the center support rails are attached so they roll up with the top. easy to install j clips attach rails to bed.
