Powdercoating rear bumper?

I really want to color match my rear bumper black, but powdercoaters want $350 for my bumper alone. Is this normal? What have you guys paid to get it done?

Re: Powdercoating rear bumper?

Yeah, that sounds a bit high. My friend had some motorcycle wheels done for $40 eack. Lots of work in those. Bumpers are easy.
Cheers, Lee S.

Re: Powdercoating rear bumper?

do they handle commercial accounts mainly? if so, i think that is their normal "lot" charge so that's why it is so high. i paid that much for my front chrome bumper and a mesh grill; didn't have a hookup. i could have gone somewhere farther from my house that powdercoated by the piece (~$200 for bumper), but i paid more to save on time and gas.

what model do you have? since it's a rear bumper, maybe paint will work for a XE bumper. if you have a SE or LE with chrome, maybe get the front AND rear done for that price.

Re: Powdercoating rear bumper?

I had the body shop I frequent match the rear bumper to the front...cost around a 100 bucks.

there are more angles of my truck in the jan 2007 hb meet thread in the socal forum.

powdered gloss black but it's also painted galaxy black on top. at some angles, it appears to be darker than the end caps.

yeah i was so happy for that deal. they don't do auto parts. they just powdercoat what you bring. I paid $80 for my bugguard to be pc'd somewhere else but they do stuff for Chip Foose and others.

anyhow here's pics.. not a perfect color match but not bad.
