bed anchor thingys...

I'd like to put some of those bed anchors things, you know the square ones that are rubberized and have an eye screw through them, normally go into the top of the bed rails on each corner, on my titan.

The problem is that the Titan has plastic bedrail tops on my 07. there's no rectangular shaped holes for the anchors, but something that looks like a 'pop out' in there instead. Is that a pop out? if so, how? do I have to cut it with a dremel or something?

Any advice appreciated!

You can get something like this, it goes into the stake holes, most are universal fit. There's a pop up kind also.

Re: bed anchor thingys...

For the 2006 LE the bed rail does have the rectangular outline of where the pocket is underneath. I have not cut mine, although I've heard for a few people who have, the outline may not be exactly lined up with the pocket underneath. Maybe use a new razor blade or a hot soldering iron to try and determine just where the hole underneath is. If you are going to cut yours out, I would start in the middle and proceed slowly towards the edge. Once you put a hole in it there is no putting the piece back.

Re: bed anchor thingys...

The bed caps cost about $30 each to replace if you trash one. If you remove one it can't be reused. The hole in the cap is slightly larger than the stake pocket and it's that way so when you use the pocket the stake or whatever doesn't keep hitting the cap and shifting it. If you cut it out use a new blade in a utility knife and just slowly keep cutting at the four sides with light pressure so when you go through you don't hit the sheet metal.

Re: bed anchor thingys...

yeah kelly i did it to my 05, i wouldnt recomend it because after a while they are ugly and putting too much weight on them bends the bed top in...but yeah utility blade will work fine, they are a piece of cake cutting out, i bought my anchors at walmart for 20 bucks... worked pretty good...
