Door handle help!!!

I took my chrome handles off and replced them with black. I got 3 of them finished but I can't get the Escuctchen with the lock to line up with the screw. I have the lock pushed all the way against the door and I can tell the screw as been hitting short 1/8 inch. Any one got any ideals? I have spent 3 hours trying to get this dang screw in. I have tried everything I can hthnk of. I dont want to have to take it ot the delaer. Thanks in advance,

Try switching it around with one you have already installed and see if does the same thing.

You have to snap the lock into the eschulon before you try to screw it down.

It only has one key hole estcheon. I have tried it on and off and nothing seems to make it line up.
