Cargo Light???

Going to be starting my latest mod soon and I need to find the power wire that goes to the cargo lamp that's mounted on the back of the cab with the 3rd Brake light. Please point me in the correct direction.

I say tap it at the easy point. Up near the light. I plan on doing the same thing in the near future and I haven't come up with a better way yet. But maybe someone will chime in and make it easier for us?

Do you have the cargo lights in the side of the tail light? If so, you can find it there. That's what I used to install additional LED's in the bed for lighting.

No, I don't have those lights, that is actually what I'm trying to accomplish, LOL!!! I have some lights that will work and will be super easy to mount. I just need to get power too them and it would be great if I could have them work in conjunction with the cargo light, instead of putting them on a seperate switch and running a separate line straight from the battery.

Either near the 3rd brake light or look for wire near the Cargo Light switch on the dash.

Now there's an idea. You should be able to tap that one and have it already under the dash. I'll have to give it a look under there and see what the access is like.

Yes and if that looks easier that's where I'll splice into. A co-worker also mentioned a limiter switch that would turn it on/off when I open/close the tailgate...decisions decisions!!!

I think if you pull that lower part of the dash, it should be pretty easy to get to. I can't do that at the office though, so I don't know how "busy" the wiring bundles are right there at that switch.

It depends on how you want it to come on! If you want them to come on when the door is open, then just pull the power off of the dome light and get the ground from the door pin switch, or if you want the to come on with the dome lights, then just pull the porwe aqnd ground off of the dome light. You could also just make your own switch on the dash by using one of the kc light switches. Anyway, thats my thought!!

ooo you guys got me thinking. I have a set of driving lights I wanted to put under my rear bumper and that would be sweet if they would come on the same time my cargo lite was on!

Can I just tap into the power to the 3rd brake/cargo light? I found it in the RR door jamb under the scuff plate. The green wire. Then just ground the lights back near the taillight somewhere???

Also, I assume that red is for the brake light and black is ground???
