Cool Re: recomendation for a Tonneau Cover?

Highly recommend the Lazer Lite. Easy to install (especially with Utli-trak), looks great, and easy to remove if you need to put some big items in your bed

Re: recomendation for a Tonneau Cover?

I have the Access Loredo cover, I love it.

It keeps whatever is in the bed dry, it is semi secure (someone has to come ready with a knife if they want to get in) It leaves the TruTrac accessable, but you do have to do some mods if you want to have the bed extender usable.

I got mine for $429 installed.

Re: recomendation for a Tonneau Cover?

I have the BakFlip and very minor leakage. I did run drain tubes which were very easy to fabricate. I do no tneed a waterproof bed, but I wanted a lockable one. I also understand that they have improved their product this past year.

Re: recomendation for a Tonneau Cover?

If anyone is interested I have a RETRAX tonneau Cover that's off of a 2005 KC, never had any leaks from it even through the car wash. It is about a year old, paid $900 will let it go for $400. If anyone is interested I'm in the Cincinnati area.

Got the "new and improved BakFlip. Looks and works great, easy to install and to remove by yourself. I wanted a hard cover that was functional and this thing works awesome...As far as leaks go, it's not all that bad...and I'm in the Seattle area where it is constantly raining.

Re: recomendation for a Tonneau Cover?

Can we get some new information in here?

Instead of saying 'I like brand X', could you guys start saying what you DON'T like about others? They mostly look the same to me, so how am I supposed to figure out which one is superior? For example, What is it about a Laredo that makes it worth $100 more than the ExTang?

I don't think any of them are truly 'bad' - it's more a matter of personal choice, how you use it & what's important to you.

Most of the low profile, velcro covers require 'tracks' that extend into the bed - something I was not too keen on.
Some also need a rail across the tailgate, which limits loading ability.

Most roll tops are expensive & also require a 'box' in the bed front to roll into - not something I wanted.

I had a hard top (ARE) on my last truck. It was great looking & very secure, but a total pain in the a$$ if you needed to load anything tall or long.
They are way too heavy to take on/off easily (takes at least 2 guys) & make it hard to get to the front of the bed.
It's also impossible to get in the bed if you need to without crawling.
They are also expensive.

Snap covers are cheapest, but the snaps & bows are a pain.

There are new lite hard covers that 1 person can remove - looked at a number of these, but decided I didn't really want to spend the $600 - $700 at this time.
If I routinely carried expensive tools/gear in the bed, I would have probably gone this route.

In the end, the Trifecta seemed best for how I use the bed. It works with the utilitrac & I can still use the bed extender with it. 1 person can take it off with no tools in 5 min & you can fold it back and drive with it open (it has built in straps/clips to keep it in place).
With the tailgate locked, no one can get into the bed unless they cut thru the top - a 'risk' with any vinyl top.

Re: recomendation for a Tonneau Cover?

Thanks Mike, insightful.

Hard tops are out for me, I just don't want to deal with it. I like the Trifecta, but I am not sure that I like the fold lines(you know they are going to develop).

How about fastening, does the velcro get all full of crap over time? Anybody have a 'lip' system like a Saber that is older?

Re: recomendation for a Tonneau Cover?

Does anyone have experience with Extang FullTilt Tonneau Cover? I am thinking about the FullTilt, reasonably priced at about $340, and only weighs 30lbs, hinged and rolls up.

Thanks!

The vinyl is pretty thick and of high quality, unless you folded it a lot doesn't seem like that would be an issue.

The guy across the street has an F-150 with a Vanish top that has the velcro.
It's pretty nice too & I considered it - just didn't like the tracks sticking into the bed.
He works construction & his seems OK (it's about a year old now) but, he does wash his truck at least weekly !
