I didn't mean that to come across like ya didn't know what you were doing - just making sure.

DL coasters, huh? NEAT! I've made a few myself, and it just makes me grit my teeth and shake...

Have DL's gotten any cheaper? Last time I bought some, they were... well, almost as expensive as a gallon of gas is now!

No, you didn't come across like i didn't know (it was a good question). trust me, i deal with some of the best, if you know what I mean. The example today would take a page but was funny as hell.

Oh. Hell, OFF Topic and here's what happened. Told a customer we needed a Database in EXCEL or equivalent, so they sent us an IMAGE, yes, a scanned image with 130 names inserted into an excel file. Said here ya go. Not to go on too long on that, but i certainly can't do a mail merge or and DB work with an image.... oh well.

The 25 Pack of Dual Layer's cost about $19 at Fry's 3 months ago. so it's much better than the old days.

I'm downloading again and will try Burning in the morning, (if it's done), will let you know. .

Re: Navigation Upgrade

Re-downloaded it and it burned fine, but does not work.

I'm using DVD+R DL. do they make a DVD-R DL? maybe that will work.

Re: Navigation Upgrade

A few things to try:

- Try a different brand of DVD. Some DVD's just won't be read.

- Be sure you're using software to burn that will bypass the copy protection. CloneCD is almost certainly the best choice here.

- You will likely need to set the book type from DVD+R and/or DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM for your DVD burner. You'll need software to do this. I think CloneCD does this. Your burner must support this change. Apparently the drive in the Nissans will only recognize disks burned as DVD-ROM.

I have an updated navigation disk (version 6.6 for my 2004 Titan) on its way and will be making a backup. I'll let you know what works.

Re: Navigation Upgrade

I tried Clone Cd. I couldn't make any changes to do "DVD-ROM" burning, i tried Verbatim DVD+R DL still couldn't read.

has anyone confirmed on the 08.5 that they can burn a 7.3 disk and make it work?

This is almost certainly the problem. If the DVD isn't burned with booktype of "DVD-ROM" it cannot be read by the navigation drive. If you can't make this change on your burner, you'll need to use a different burner.

I dind't see the booktype as even an option (available or not) through CloneCd. i will have to check my burner specs.

what burner are you using?

My Burner can do this

Booktype management
Booktype changeable for DVD+R
Booktype changeable for DVD+R DL
Booktype changeable for DVD+RW
Standard booktype DVD+R DVD-ROM
Standard booktype DVD+R DL DVD-ROM
Standard booktype DVD+RW DVD-ROM

Oh, it's a Samsung SH-S183l

Re: Navigation Upgrade

In Nero there are 4 options fro DVD-ROM
DVD-ROM (ISO) Tried this, didn't work
DVD-ROM (Boot)
DVD-ROM (UDF)
DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)

The Boot is to make it a windows Bootable. probably not that option.

Re: Navigation Upgrade

Hmmm.... it looks like the booktype is right. You might try the UDF/ISO type, but beyond that, I'm not sure what to tell you except to maybe try a different type of disk.

I got my Zenrin 6.6 upgrade disk today and was able to make a backup without problem with CloneCD and the backup works fine in the nav system. My old version was 6.2 and the difference is amazing! I created an image and burned with CloneCD onto a Verbatim DVD+R DL. My default booktype is DVD-ROM.

Sorry, but I'm not sure what else to tell you.

v. 5.3.1.0 of CloneCD.

Zenrin Version 6.6 is the most recent update for the 2004-2005 Titans. 2006+ Titans require 7.3. The maps are the same as 6.6, but the software is slightly different. 2006+ CANNOT run version 6.6 and vice versa.
