ok.. what DVD +R DL WRITER do you have?

i just bought a HP 1070i that is supposed to work, and it's worse than my samsung.

Re: Navigation Upgrade

apollosmith.

Ok. i decided to burn with my new HP 1070I just for grins. Used CloneCd even though the version i have (same as you) i couldn't select the DVD-ROM. it burned at 8x and I plopped it in my NAV and Voilla, it worked. so, it could be either
1) my Samsung didn't want to work, i burned 7 GQ coasters (GQ is the FRY's brand dvd dl i have) Or my new HP DVD DL Writer Worked. or
2) The Memoriex DVD DL's that i bought worked with my HP Burner. not going to test the Memorex with teh Samsung cause, hey, i got it working.

Either way, i'm not putting my Samsung writer back in and I'm happy and thanks greatly for your help in pointing me in the right direction.

Now Hopefully i will see a difference between 7.2 and 7.3.

Edit... For Grins, i'm going to burn to the GQ (Crap disk) with the new burner and see if it works.

Will Post again in 15 mins. with the results

Re: Navigation Upgrade

heh.. well, the GQ (Fry's Great Quality) Dvd didn't work when i burned it.
So, i'm going to burn one more Memorex to confirm it wasn't a "fluke" that the memorex works.

Seems i had one verbatim that didn't work with the old Samsung Writer.

Alright. I will burn one more Memorex Copy and if it works,.. Who wants it?

I have an LG drive that came with my new HP dv6000 laptop. I don't think it's commercially available stand-alone even if you had a laptop. Exact model is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N.

Are you sure your image is good? The file should be 7.73 GB (8,300,789,760 bytes) and MD5 checksum of 4b9f6d2cf8b87dd3592d765231b1bfec according to... hmm... can't post URLs yet, but Google the checksum and you'll find the source.

In order for it to work, the layer break point (where the data changes from layer 1 to layer 2) has to be in the right place. I copied from a disk, so CloneCD knew where to put this. I'm not sure how it works with an image file.

And maybe try burning at a slower speed (4X or something). There are lot's of reports of people using Nero to copy the 7.3 DVD. If the image you got was the popular one from Nero, maybe try burning with Nero.

I've spent a lot of time looking for things that might help you, but I'm not sure what else to recommend. If anybody needs help with a 6.6 backup, I'm willing to help.

UPDATE: Ah, it looks like you got it working! Cheers!

Re: Navigation Upgrade

i need to go to the Stealership and ask them for 7.3. I guess 7.3 came out well before i bought my truck. and that's why i don't feel bad DL'ing and burning on my own.
Oh, the salesman told me that updates would come from the sky via Satellite and would be free. so, again, i don't feel bad.
