recovery gear????

Ok guys I been offroad several time and been thinking that if I get or someone gets stuck, I dont have any place where I can hook up a strap to my truck on the rear...

I looked for a hitch around my area but no one is selling them, and I dont want to pay mucho dinero ;D

So I have a few ideas and wanted to know if this would work or not...

number 1 (a member over at Clubfrontier Brutal has a similar set up )
Do you guys think that the titan bumper would be strong enough and hold up the abuse.
Brutal recommended runing a 1/4 metal on the back for support

parts need it... shackle (free) + mount ($15-25 at harbor tools) + 1/4 backing plate (free)

or
run tow hooks on the bottom of the bumper frame support
found this ones on ebay for like 30 dollars
I also found some at northern tools for 10 dollars

or go big pimpin' with some hummer chrome parts also found on ebay for around $150 for three, Im sure I can get only 2 or just 1 from the vendor for less. Maybe $50 or so

What do you guys think ?

Thanks

Re: recovery gear????

They are cheap. I got mine directly from the dealer for $168

Call here and ask for Jen. She will give you a great deal. Tell her I recommended them.

Re: recovery gear????

I am going to vote two thumbs down, one for the rinky dink bumper shackle mounts and another for the hay hook in the receiver instead of a receiver shackle.

modern bumper are for show not tow. That little Fronty won't be hooking up to a diesel 3/4 ton shoved fender deep in the snow either.

Get the hitch and receiver then a few shackles and nylon towstrap and you are set!

With that, you are still putting all your eggs in one basket. You would still be relying on the strength of the bumper itself.

I think "hidden hitch" makes a receiver for our trucks now that you might be interested in. That could easily be integrated into a custom rear bumper.

Re: recovery gear????

Do yourself a favor and get the oem hitch. It is well worth the money. IMHO no truck should be without a hitch.
