Side brackets for OEM tool box available?

The parts for the OEM tool box that make it slide look to be screwed/bolted to the side of a standard bed box (a shallow type to clear the wheel wells). Does anyone know if they are available separately?

If so, it would seem possible to locate a similar box and add the brackets to convert it into a sliding one.

Or, could the superstrut stuff that's been mentioned in other threads be used to make brackets? This way one of the types that supposed to fit over the side of the bed might work if it's for a smaller truck.

This leads me to the second question. Would someone with a box please meaure the dimensions? It looks be just slightly less than the width of the box and some number of inches high.

Re: Side brackets for OEM tool box available?

I just finished my write up, I’m sure with a few trips to the hardware store you could make any truck box that fits between the wheel slide in and out (maybe some sliding glass door wheels). Check out the pictures what I did with the OEM box. Should give you plenty of ideas.

Titan sliding tool box mod (finished) lots of pictures!

All it consists of is a block of some hard plastic and two wheels (circled in red).

Just get some square tubing, bolt it to the side of the box, buy 4 wheels that are about the right size to fit in the util-track (glass door wheels might work) and bolt it all together. The factory box has two knobs on either side with a long bolt & plate that slides into the track, you tighten the knob and it pulls the box tight to the track keeping if from sliding. It also has a locking system at the back (front of truck) of the box. But that system would be a little harder to copy. Or the easy way to lock the box in place would be to use the little cleats that come with the titan to keep it from rolling back. I remember another member used them to keep side mounted box from moving.

I’m sure a few trips to the home store and a 4 hours in the garage could turn an after market truck box into a Nissan sliding box.
