Re: Need Info On Mp3 Dash Plug

There are several ways to input MP3 audio to a radio. Visit Crutchfield.com for more info.

Re: Need Info On Mp3 Dash Plug

I would take the face plate off first to make sure that the connector is plugged in first.

Why not use a wireless transmitter?

I'd call a local TV repair shop. Ask them if you bring them a car stereo, could they replace a simple 1/8th stereo jack.

I doubt it will cost more than $50 in labor.

Actually, a better source might be a place where you would bring an aftermarket radio for warranty work. Check out "Authorized Service Centers" for Alpine, Kenwood, etc. One of those places can more than likely do the job.

Of course I've never been inside the radio, but if it's wired you should be able to do it yourself. If it's soldered right to a board, then it requires a little more finesse. If your plan is to completely replace the radio, I'd at least get a soldering iron and take a crack at it. The part is less than $5 at Radio Shack, or at least one that will do the job.

It's probably one of these...

Good luck!

Re: Need Info On Mp3 Dash Plug

all you need is to go to Radio Shack and get a surface mount 1/8" mini jack and either solder it in yourself or get a radio repair shop to do it for you.

Problem solved. Part will cost $1.50, labor if you don't do it yourself shouldn't be that much, maybe $25 or so.
