Best looking bug deflector?

What is the best looking, most aerodynamic deflector out there?

2nd that, here is a pic of mine installed. Plus it's only 5 screws and it's off for cleaning under the shield. (don't need to open the hood)

Re: Best looking bug deflector?

Bite the bullet and get the Stainless Steel LUND INTERCEPTOR. Everyone compliments me one the front of my truck. Also..I took a rock to the deflector that flew up off a vehicle in front of me. It would have shattered a plastic one and put a huge dent in my hood. As much as you want it to look good, don't forget about protection.

Re: Best looking bug deflector?

Really bite the bullet and do what I did. Get the 3M Clear Bra. It will protect the entire front end, hood, lights, bumpers and fog lights from rock chips and bug splatters. I have had mine since 2004 and have only 1 small nick where the film doesn't cover.

Re: Best looking bug deflector?

I got it from a friend who installs it here in Chicago. He used my truck in his advertisements so I don't know how much it would cost retail. I paid about $200 for material. He threw in the labor which took about 6 hours. My best guess is it would cost around $400 for the entire front of the truck.

I also had him add the material to the front edge of the roof in front of the sunroof and also put a large square behind it where I used to mount a magnetic strobe light.

I have no chips on the front facing on my truck after 75K miles except the small one I mentioned.

Oh yeah we also added a small strip to each of the door edges so I wouldn't get chips there either. We were going to add it to the front face of the mirrors but figured enough was enough.

Here are a couple of websites to see what it is all about.

http://www.automotivearticles.com/Clear_Bra_3M.shtml

http://www.empireclearshield.com/

I think the only part of my truck not protected by this stuff is the bed.

Nothing personal here but although I think the clear bra is overall good paint protection, It won't stop a dent from kicked up rocks or redirect the air stream to "deflect" small debris and bugs off the windshield.

Again, good overall paint protection though.

I don't think I said it would stop a dent, but I have not had any rock leave one yet. I have had a rock break my windshield and know that it didn't hit the hood first. It came stright at me from the vehicle in front of me. No bug deflector could have prevented that.

I also know that the thickness of the piece that I have on the headlights and foglights have kept them from being chipped.

I am not trying to sell anyone on this stuff. I am just giving my personal opinion. You might find differently.

The only reason i mentioned the dent is shown in the Pic below... Never thought it would happen but I'm glad the deflector took it and not my hood.
