Re: cold air intake

If you are looking to get better MPG then don't get CAI. There are many good brands available though if you do want one: Nismo, Injen, AEM, S&B, and Volant just to name a few.

Re: cold air intake

to be honest you probly wont see a noticible difference in mpg increase with any intake system. i have a 57 series k&n sounds cool and does give a power difference especially in the higher rpm

Re: cold air intake

The reason why you dont get better gas mileage is because you like to hear the intake and you step on it more. But yea, the K&N has an awesome sound and it works great.

Re: cold air intake

If you want better mileage, buy a compact. If you want better performance, Volant & Injen make outstanding intake kits.

You're not going to increase your MPG with an intake. There aren't any solutions to our gas woes. But for power, a CAI is a good start. Combined with an exhaust, even better.

oh well, cant say I bought a truck expecting it to be that great anyways. hey I was reading about doing a 2 degree timing advance. would I be able to notice much with it if the only mod I have will be the CAI? And it wont hurt to tow with the advance right?

Re: cold air intake

My experience so far with my K&N is that I like the boost with moderate to heavy throttle over 2K RPM. It revs more quickly and feels more powerful. It roars! Hasn't helped the mileage much though... I didn't expect it too.

I think you'll dig it!

The 2° is a SWEET mod! Do it!!!! You WILL notice it, with or without a CAI. It provides better throttle response so your truck will seem to "get up and go" a bit better. Shouldn't affect your towing in anyway either - at least not detrimentally....

just got it done at the dealer yesterday, and your absolutely right. I noticed a great increase in the "get up and go" immediately! The service guy kept telling me that I wouldn't be able to notice anything and that it was a wast of time, told him to do it anyways. happy I didn't listen to him!

Oh there's a solution for our gas woes - if you keep the key out of the ignition while driving you never will have to fill the tank.
