hey im new on te forum, and never been on a forum before. im looking to get a hid kit but i dont wannt spend $300. or would i be better off getting a good set of normal bulbs that are way brighter then the stock. i dont want hids that have tonz of glare. what normal bulbs would be best? and last whats the diff between the 3000k, 6000k, 8000k, 10000k, and 12000k?? thxxx alot..
Welcome to the board A few members here have purchased smart4cars kits off ebay and they seemed really satisfied so I bought a kit too. These suckers work great after 2 months so far I picke 6000k bulbs because theyre a nice "diamond white." The higher the temp the lower the light output (thats what i think it says on the site). So if you want max lighting get the 3000k bulbs from them. The kit was plug and play but my radio reception got crappy but I hear finding better grounding will resolve the problem.
I bought my HID low beams from this guy on Ebay and couldn't be happier. His plug-N-play Japan kits may be a few more $$$ then some of the other vendors. I'll vouch for their quality though. This guy can also get you the HID fog lights.
Since no one really touched on a few of your questions i will chime in here. What do you mean by glare? I am confused. The HID upgrade is alot brighter IMO. If you use plain ol 9006 HID bulbs the light is scattered and yes there is glare as you call it i think. Mine had to be aimed waaaay low to keep from blinding oncoming traffic. That in turn made my brights non existent almost. And the bulb color.......well if you do backroads, dark driving alot go with a 4300K or 6K max. If you do city driving and like a blueish color to look cooler.....anything above 6K will do.
And as far as the fogs go......I wouldnt recommend upgrading your halogen's with HID's. They are way to bright to use in traffic situations. It's blinding actually to oncoming traffic. Plus HID's dont like to be cycled alot.....every time you go high beams and back you are putting alot of unwanted wear on the HID lighting system.
i see.. idk ive seen people with HIDs in other cars and when ur in the cr they seem 2 just look diff, like in a glare way on the ground. someone said it looks like that when u dont have perjecter
If you really wanted to do it right, you would retrofit your headlight to include HID projectors. This will give you better results than just sticking an HID kit in your stockers and will probably give you a more OEM type performance. The downside is that its going to cost you a bit more to do it this way. Using projectors should give you a nice cut off line like those cars that come with HID's stock.

I have to disagree......you dont have to do all that. All you need is to buy a "rebased" 9006 HID buld from www.hidexpert.com Those bulbs work fantastic, and the best part is you keep your OEM lighting aimpoints making it all worth while to do the retrofit. I love these bulbs. Bright, aimed correct, and a cheaper alternative to totally redoinf your lights like the above mentioned.
Ya know..I was looking at some examples of the temperatures...seems like a nice fit are the 4300k bulbs..but aren't the Silverstars like 4000k? That would be a bit cheaper.....
Check ebay for "Titan HID" I bought a complete plug-n-play kit for $68.98 shipped. Me expectations were low considering the price. Install was easy, the connectors were great quality, and the lighting improvement was amazing.

Sylvania Silverstar lights aren't worth the money IMO. I've tried them in 2 different vehicles and found they offer negligible changes in light. The seemed to burn out quicker and need to be replaced more often. So they're not really cheaper when you consider the longer life you'll get from the HID setup.

Thanks...I have used them before, with good results, never had one burn out on me. I just picked up a set on clearance at target for my wife's vehicle...$ 8.00
None to fit mine though
Buying at retail, the HID kits on ebay are almost as much as the Silverstars.

Surprising, I switched to the Ultra's and there was a big difference...Maybe my 04''s stock bulbs are worse then other years..
I bought my bulbs on Ebay, all 4(hi's & lows) for like $48 shipped...

+1.
Silverstars are are/were junk. They produced too much heat and would blow way too soon. Plus the light output was minimally greater for the price and effort of the install/swap.
In the long run changing Silverstars every year or so isnt a deal vs. upgrading to HID's.
