Once again I find that dealing with Nissan is a pain.
I bought a Nissan XM radio tuner for an '08 Titan, along with the tuner mounting brackets, and an overpriced antenna. ($93.00).
The tuner and tuner bracket do not come with installation instructions. Why is it so hard for Nissan to be able to include instructions??
The bracket looks like it should mount under the dash on the driver's side. But it is nearly impossible to guess what the mounting configuration should look like. What makes the installation nearly impossible is that two mounting brackets are included, and it appears that only one will fit.
So... do any of you know where Nissan makes those missing instructions available? Or have any of you suffered through this task?
Oh yeah, the Nissan brackets came new out of the box with rust spots all over them...

The instructions aren't "missing"

Professional installation recommended.

Sounds like you might have had some difficulties reading the manual.
As for the rust spots, return it to the dealer and ask for another set, and examine them before you leave.
I would highly recommend that you take it to your dealer or a electronics store that does installations, and have it done.
Good Luck.

I disagree, the install is very simple if it is anything like the Sirius unit. Take back the bracket and the antenna, they are both unnecessary. Go buy a nice low profile antenna from Best Buy or somewhere similar. Here's one for 40.99 with a 23' cable. I think this looks much better than the giant inside the glass antenna that Nissan sells with the Sirius kit. I don't know what comes with the XM kit though. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1083711797612
I got my receiver and antenna from this website: http://mynissanparts.com/pc-58-171-satellite-radio.aspx
They were fast, a lot cheaper than the Nissan website. I'm pretty sure it's a dealership selling things on the internet cheaper than they sell out the door. It came in a box with a dealership's return address on it.
-If you go for a real long one you can route it to the back of the cab. I used a 14' and routed it along the driver's side kick panel and above the drivers side wind screen. Make sure you route the antenna safely above and around the steering wheel shaft. Zip tie it off or you will have some real trouble if it tangles. (Green arrow is the antenna wire. It is wrapped and zip tied away from shaft. This view is from the firewall looking up and out toward the driver's seat.)
-Take the little pieces of adhesive foam that came with the kit and stick them around all four corners of the receiver box. This will keep it from rattling. Attach a few pieces of the thick black double sided tape that came with the kit to the back of the receiver. Don't peel off the other side yet.
-Look under your steering wheel. On the upper right there should be a white wire harness (N-Bus) just sitting there with nothing plugged into it. That is the connection for you receiver. (N-Bus is marked in red, on mine it was attached with one of those pop in clips, just pull that out. The OBD port is marked in blue for reference.)
-Look right above where your knees would go. You will see a flat metal plate. That is where you will stick the receiver. (The N-Bus connector is marked in red. This view is from the firewall looking out toward the driver's seat.)
-Hook everything up before you unpeel the adhesive. Test your placement and wire clearances. If everything looks good stick it on there.
-Unlock your steering wheel and triple check that the antenna wire is not going to have any chance to interfere with the steering wheel shaft. (Antenna is marked in green, the purple arrow is pointing to the upper part of the brake pedal.)
-Turn on your car. Call, or go online and they will walk you through the activation. (Sirius did, I assume XM will too)
Edit: Stopped raining, here are the pics. I'll get a few pictures of my install and post them here. It's a very easy install. If it takes you 45 minutes including beer breaks I would be surprised. Good luck.

it does mount under the dash.... i bought mine off ebay and took the whole radio out only to realize it was pointless.... search on here for instructions thats where i got mine! but you have to take part of the gas pedel off and there is a spot it slides in right there!
If anyone on Titan Talk is thinking about installing SAT radio in their Titan (or any other Nissan 2003.5 and up) and wants the instructions (These are the Nissan Factory Instructions) or has any questions about SAT radio, XM or Sirius you can email me at mbudenhagen@vtaig.com. My name is Mark Budenhagen and I am the Internet Parts Manager for mynissanparts.com. I also have instructions that we have written for installing the antenna on the dash, which turns the total install time to 60 minutes or less. We can also help with Ipod interface instructons.

I think thats what I am going to do, just stick it behind the knee plate like that, the OEM directions, tell you to use the bracket but you have to take that plate off and then take off part of the gas pedal to attach it back thier.

The Following User Says Thank You to BigA For This Useful Post:
I just got mine installed, was easy following these directions, only thing was my knee plate is not flat like the one pictured, its rounded in the middle, I still managed to make it work though by placing it to one side with the supplied tape. I got the XM inside glass antenna, the directions for the antenna tell you to place it like 1.5 inches to the right of your rearview mirror, but that places it right in the middle of the black painted glass above the mirror, I placed mine just to the left of the black painted area and get good reception.
