Re: BakFlip Installation

I was interested in the new Tiltbak from Bak Industries. My decision not to try this tonneau was based purely on the fact that this company seems to make cheap products. When I say cheap, I mean lacking refinement in design, materials and workmanship. With a little effort, the issues you are having could easily be overcome by Bak. Instead, the company just seems to think that good enough is all they need to strive for.
Your BakFlip tonneau has clearly not met your expectations at this time. I hope it will in the future.

Re: BakFlip Installation

It took a little time but attached are some detail photos of my BakFlip,
The Rubber seals went down after about a week of GA sun and after some playing with it a little I got it to line up nicely with the side rails. I also took an idea I saw on another post; using hose reducers I drained the BakFlip through the fenders but I added one step by using tie straps under the bedsides I tied the hose in place so the water runs out directly on the ground and not down the fender.
Every one that sees the bedcover (BakFlip) close up can’t believe how nice it fits and what a low profile it has, I get nothing but good comments about it. I’m now over my first concerns about the details of this thing and absolutely love it and use it every weekend.

Re: BakFlip Installation

Thanks for the pictures of how you routed the drain lines...i think I will duplicate your efforts. I'm glad that I didn't have the same issue of the rubber seals / flaps on the sides. Mine were straight immediately - no folds or serious creases apparent.

I must agree with the way the cover looks. It fits the truck quite nicely, especially the black / red theme of my pro4x, is easy to operate and more or less secure against at least the most lazy of thieves

Hopefully the good looks will stand the test of time.

Re: BakFlip Installation

I'm with you on the "Hopefully the good looks will stand the test of time."
The drain hose works really well I tested it with a glass of water, maybe someone from BakFlip will read this and they will start to include the reducers and smaller hose in there kits (They should know there clients needs)when someone orders from them. The reducers and hose cost about $6.00 from The Home Depot so it was not much but the fact that you order something and have to go out and find parts to make it work that’s not so good.

I am looking to purchase a bakflip in the near future for a king cab '05. I have the utilitrack on the front and all along the sides. After flipping the sides, will the bed extender still store on the inside...and when you say it still works but at an angle...I am assuming you mean in the extended state it is angled up a bit due to the track being flipped?....BTW if anyone wants to sell their Bakflip I am interested!!

Re: BakFlip Installation

Yes the bed extender is angled up a bit due to the track being flipped and it will store on the inside under the backflip.
