I have a KC with the plastic bedliner that did not come with the bed extender. How does the Nissan one attach to the truck? I really want it as a divider, but I am unsure how easy it is to attach and now after going thru some threads here have found that it is a bit of $$$. I guess ease of installation maybe my deciding factor - if its not for me does anyone else have a recommendation for an aftermarket one. For now I want to keep an uncovered bed so the single bar/net ones may not be what I'm after.
There is two type of bed extender, the sliding extender is attach to the utility track using brackets. The non sliding bed extender is attach to the truck bed itself. Beside Nissan, Westin also make some as so does a few other companies.

Hey everyone
I just bought my 08 Titan and found this to be a great place for all my questions.
I hope someone can clear up a question I have regarding the bed extender. I'm looking at the sliding one that fits into the tracks. In a CC short bed will the bed extender slide all the way to the front of the bed? And when the extender laying on the tail gate does this one pivot like the fixed style? In other words can it pivot from on the tail gate to inside the bed?
Thanks for the help. Just want to be sure before I buy one.

Yes to both questions, you can slide it anywhere along the rails and it pivots like the fixed ones.

click links in sig for extensive pictures of this...
sorry, don't meant to hijack the thread.
but do you need anything special to mount the bed extender on a non-utlitrack truck ?
or can i just get the bed extender?

HIJACKER!!!!!!
jk
There are a few types of extenders. The utilitrak and non-utilitrak type. On the Non-utilitrak Titan's there is a bracket that mounts to where the existing bed cleats are. That is the one you should be checking out.
The part I'm not certain about is the actual difference in the extender mounting point in relation to the bracket.... I have yet to see a non utilitrak extender in person..... and haven't found detailed pics...
Thanks DeadRiver.
I figured my question is in very close proximity to the OP's original question, and he might find the answer to my question helpful.
i've actually done that a few times here. if it bothers people, i can stop.
back on topic.
i have the 2 metal brackets on the inside of the bed. does the extender hook up to those, or to something else then to those?
Thanks DeadRiver.

Thanks again. sorry to the OP for hijacking.
i'm just kidding... you'll note a lot of topics go way off as the threads progress.... it's not really a big deal, to most of us.
the metal brackets for the extender itself or these tie downs? you'll have to remove the tie downs and install the brackets for the extender...
