Anyone know if you can get AFTERMARKET tinted windows. I'm talking actual tinted glass not that pre-cut film. Window tint is illegal in RI unless it it actual tinted glass from the factory. Nissan can order it for an arm and my first born.
I sincerely doubt you will see anything like that available in the aftermarket, at least not for the front door windows. In most or all of the states, it's illegal to go lower than 35% tint on the front side windows of a vehicle.
im an autoglass technician here in va and i will check on the glass but im sure the front doors will not be available in tint but the all the rear glass should be available. i will let you guys know tomorrow if there is actually aftermarket tinted glass
How would an officer know if it's factory or film by visually looking? Is it more a case where they can pull you over to check? No one needs that hassle but even if it is factory, will they still pull you over to check? Do you have state inspection where this is checked?
If not, get film to match the back. Since PA is pretty anal about tinting that is what I did and you can't tell from the outside.
Hey Dead. I'm in RI and the state inspection will bounce your reg' if the front windows have any % of film on them. Window tint can be anywhere else on the vehicle EXCEPT the front, unless it comes through the factory that way. Hence my question about aftermarket tinted windows.
Your rig might as well have a blue light mounted on those racks, cause that's all you would see in you rearview in RI! LOL....They will pull you over to check the tint on the front just to bust balls up here .

that is why i matched the back. They look really dark in that particular picture as it was near dusk. Typically you can still see in if you look really hard. I just don't need to be hassled by the man, and driving at night is really hard with Limo tint, I've had buddies with that and hated them having to roll down all the windows to back out of a driveway at night...
I figured they'd check @ state inspection if RI had it.... and that's lame! I do understand it from an officer's perspective though.
Contact a company that does armored vehicles. they can make your glass and tint it to spec. also, you can also add some bullet resistance in the process i guess....
other than that, i am not aware of anybody else doing custom auto glass beyond film tint

I am no expert, but being a former resident of PA. I had heard of people getting the factory glass "dipped". It provided some type of a polymer film to the galss providing it a factory tinted look without the film. As I said I am no expert, and have never seen a place that offers it on the street. However, you maybe able to have your glass sent in if you can find someone whom offers a service like that...good luck the one thing I dont miss about living up north is all the anal retentive laws...sucks
Are you kidding me? Have these states run out of crimes?
they just avoid tackling crime by making laws they argue curb crime... mmyeah

I think that its great that we spend tax payer's dollars enforcing laws that shouldnt take the highest priority, maybe we should focus on areas like drug control and finding criminals.
Well, I'd have to say, if I got my truck windows tinted and they hassled me, I'd have to fight it since I see more than my share of people with riced out cars with mirrored window decals. It seems to be an ethnic thing and the police don't tend to want to hassle them due to political bullshit. It's rampant around here and blatantly obvious. But, as a middleclass working American male, I suppose there's nothing to do but support them, huh?
