Blacked out my tail lights but I got a question...
I blacked out my breaklights with spray tint today
 I like the color but want it glossy like the rest of my trucks paint. I bought some spray on clear coat from home depot but it doesnt seem to work. anyone out there know how to get them glossy?? The spray tint left them dull & rough. any help would be nice. Thanks!! ~Josh EDIT: SEE 2ND PAGE FOR FINAL GLOSSED UP LOOK!!!! (click pics for bigger view)

Looks great! did you take them off and spray the inside or just masking tape it and spray the outside?

i took the tails and 3rd breaklight out and used blue painters tape to tape off the backup lights. it was suprisingly easy.
i just wanna gloss them instead of them all dulled out like they are now. just dont know what to do. soneone HEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPP

paint the inside? what the hell are you guys talking about. man all you have to do is get an acrylic clear coat thats not cheap **** and hold the can closer. it looks like your just misting them and thats why its not coming out smooth.

I've painted my car's and truck's taillights and the only way to get the gloss is have it professionally clear coated using acrylic, cheap if you go to Macco but then again it's Macco, or go to a more reputable body shop. You did do the right thing by painting the outside, just take it down and they'll probably do it right there for maybe 50 bucks!

vegastitan21, what clearcoat did you buy and use or did you get it done at a paint shop?? also your white painted tailgate accent (behind the nissan logo) looks bad a$$!!! How did you get it off to paint it??

how about some nice fine wet sanding?
maybe some 1000 or 1500 grit, then a nice clear coat over the top... should work great |

i did the tailights myself. just gotta go to home depot and get a decent can of clear coat. ive done this to all of my trucks and alot of my friends cars too. as far as the tailgate handle i had that done professionally. i must say it does look niiiiice

what brand of clearcoat did ya get??
i will have to research wetsanding and see how thats done too. they are quite rough.

thanks for all the info. i got some krylon triple thick gloss last night at Michaels arts & crafts and hit the tails up. It put a good gloss on there. no need for sanding. ill post pics later after i get time to take some.
