Need a couple opinions on items

Just received the green light on another item or two for the truck. I know what items I want, but as I'm new to the truck world, and never did any modding of any kind on previous vehicles, I'd like some opinions on a few items.

First off, Bull bars. Ive seen most folks go with the Aeris or Westin. Is one better constructed then the other? One better than the other if you plan on adding off road lights?

Led tails and 3rd brake lights. Again, same questions. Ive read allot about Volant, but seems they have issues with a bar of lights or two croaking shortly after install. Are there any other favorites folks have installed? Also, I have a Black titan, which do you all think would look better? The clear lens or smoked? I think the smoked personally, as the clear would look to "ricer" on a black truck.

Thanks in advance folks.

Re: Need a couple opinions on items

Aries and Westin bullbars are VERY similar in construction. The only difference I see is the Westin has the little plastic cover over the weld points on the midbar. The Aries doesn't. I've got the Aries and one thing you need to pay attention to is the fact that the welds need to be cared for. They will rust slightly if not well kept, cleaned and waxed regularly. And who does that?

Neither really has the advantage with regards to lighting mounts as they are basically identical in this regard.

Tails? I'd go with smoke as well. I may do that on my truck if Seres ever steps up and makes them in smoke with the tailgate light incorporated.

Volant no longer makes the taillights. Seres, a TT site sponsor is currently in ownership of the plant where the Volants were made and say they have improved the sealants and materials. They also sell them for half the price Volant wanted. Like I said, if they smoke a set with tailgate lights, good luck beating me to the front of the checkout line!

Re: Need a couple opinions on items

Nice. Thanks for the info BB. I know there are literally dozens of ways to smoke them out, but is there an idiot proof way of doing so? I pretty sure I want the smoked look, but don't want to screw up the lights. I need something thats going to last and not fade/haze or look like crap in 2 years.
Again, thanks BB, your input is always spot on.

Re: Need a couple opinions on items

Some have done the spray on tint for the tails. This seems to work the best. You can layer it on as many applications as you want, each time darkening the tail a bit more, but then you need to clearcoat it so it's shiny and not dull flat black when you're done.

Most I've seen who've tried the tint film say it's impossible to put on without creases or messing it up. The spray on has usually netted the best results.
