HID HALO kit on ebay. question about it before i buy it
I just had a couple of questions. Any help would be greatly appreicated. i cant post links yet so its the halo and hid kit that costs around 250.00
Frst of all i want some hids and when i saw this kit the headlights look really nice so i figured why not.
Does these kits leak? I mean they say they have warranty but why would they say that if there as good as OEM.
Second, is 6000k bright enough. I had a gs400 and i dont know what that one was but i really liked how bright it was
And third of all. what do you guys think about this kit. Is it worth the money? I mean money really isnt the problem for me i just want something nice for my truck. Would you guys get this kit? Why and why not? thats the million dollar question for me... i guess. How does the top leds work? Do i need to replace those lights too?
Man any help with this would be great. I really appreciate it.
I don't have these or any HID's or projectors, but I've read a lot about them. The stock bulbs are 4300K. That's just about what all stock HID's are. Some manufacturers use 5000K, but they're not very common. Most people go with the 6000K which is about as bright as the 4300K, but have a very slight blueish tint. It's actually not that blue and therefore not that bad. When you go higher on the number scale, the less bright the lights become, but the more color they get.
Regarding the kits, if you look at them, they have generic ballasts. That's not usually a good thing. Some have bought them and had no problems, but the generic ballasts have been known to be delivered bad from the seller. Some have had issues getting them replaced and the sellers ask for shipping costs sometimes. I have no experience with this particular seller, just beware. It happens.
Leaking? Any headlight or taillight can leak. Some have had this problem with the projectors. Again, may not have been this seller's units, but it's a matter of quality control. In the aftermarket, if it's cheap, it's probably made cheap, too. This can be easily remedied with a little RTV sealant, but it is a hassle.
My recommendation? If you really like these, go for it. It sounds like the cost isn't a problem for you. If it doesn't work out, you can always go the full route and have REAL HID's installed in whatever light housing you like:

My opinion is that im not sure if its worth the money or not. The leds and halos are a hit and miss. some may work and some may not.
I have hids in mine but had o get h1 replacment bulbs and I have 10k which is really blue and made it hard to see.t looks nice on the truck and I like the way they project and the way they look on the road but if you want to see good get either the 6's or lower. Its hard to see with the blue. Just a heads up from m experience with them. Also take your time to adjust the lights.
It should tell you in the instructions how to hook up the leds and halos but you mainly just need to hook them up to another power so they could turn on
oh yeah and when it rains I get moisture in mine but it goes away after a few hours. I hate when that happens
Re: HID HALO kit on ebay. question about it before i buy it
The whole point to HIDs is better light. Why anyone ever puts anything over 6000k in a vehicle boggles the mind. I'd say go with 4300k pure white to offer you the most light. That's what I put in my wife's MDX projector lamps and they look and work great.
I'd like to see closer pics of your lamps, and some low light pics.

I just want some nice headlights with hids and fog hids. I have some money and its not really that big of an issue but of course i would like to save a penny if i can...... any help would be more than appreciated and i would be more than happy to post pictures when i install them. Thanks again!! oh yeah and they dont seem to make headlihgts for the 08 yet. does anyone know if the 07 ones will fit?
Re: HID HALO kit on ebay. question about it before i buy it
I have 'em with 4300k H1's. I bought the housings and the hids seperate.
If I had to do it again I would, BUT I'd buy the more expensive housing (revotech or eagle eye? - generally the ones with the 'better' halo). The cheapies don't come with the wiring harness and the aim adjustment is a joke. But I've had mine now for ~6 months with no problem.
As for 07/08 - there have been many discussions about this here and I can't remember what the final decision was. I'm pretty sure they're the same, but don't quote me on that...

How is the output and cutoff from the projectors? I am considering getting some. Is it comparable to OEM projectors on say an Acura TSX or something similar. Do you think I could come check them out in person? It only takes me about 30-45mins to get to Wilmington.
Re: HID HALO kit on ebay. question about it before i buy it
The cut-off is awesome. Light output is good, but I think that can be subjective. I think it's better than the stock lights (definitely better color), but I'd love to compare them side-by-side with stockers. My wife's car is a g35 with factory HID's and hers are better, no question. But I think that has to do with you perspective from the drivers seat. (Her car is faster too, handles curves better and can be more fun to drive fast than my truck – but I still love the truck).
We can arange a meet – I’d love to compare them and I’ll even help you install ‘em should you decide to get ‘em…

We are actually trying to get a meet together over on MT. I'll let you know the details as soon as we can get something firm. We are trying to do it somewhere in NJ, maybe at a local dealership or at the shore.

6k/8k/10k/12k all have the same light output. They are just different in color. alot of people make that mistake 6k is the best bet as it gives a pure white light output. 8k is blue. 10k is deep blue, 12k is homo purple

Color temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. You are right that many people believe that color temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or Hid kit . This is completely false. The truth is that the higher the colour temperature, the less useable light output you will obtain. A perfect example would be a black light. This light has a colour temperature of approx 14,000k and has almost no useable light or lumens output. Higher K kits such as 12,000k, 14000k, etc. have been manufactured for individuals that are more concerned about the actual colour output of their lights as opposed to the actual useable light output. So while 4300k and 6000k don't make more light, they will offer more luminous light (lumens) and increase your visual field during night driving. 6000k is something like 4500 lumens, and 10,000k is approximately 2500 lumens. That's a huge difference IMO.
IMO anything over 6000k is impractical and just for show.
