K&N Air Filter Worth the Price?

In the days of stupid prices for gas, I'm looking at ways to improve the mileage on my Titan. The cheapest way it seems is to pay around 50 bucks for the K&N filter for my truck. For those of you that have it or have had it, do you personally think it is worth the money?

Personally, I use this: http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaa.aspx. Service life of 100,000 miles or 4 yrs. Best of all, it doesn't require oiling.

Ive heard K&N isnt worth it, most people say it lets too much stuff slide through it and the improvement isnt even noticeable

Re: K&N Air Filter Worth the Price?

I just got one about two weeks ago and I think it may have been a good deal. I feel a slight increase in acceleration from mid to high rpm's, and I can hear a slight growl from the airbox now. Also, I switched to premium fuel around the same time and I've gone from about 11.5 MPG to 13.2. There are a lot of variables involved, but there is a difference. The main reason I bought mine was that I didn't want to spend $20 for a regular paper filter. I wanted to get something for my money, so I think it was worth it.

IMO I would suggest a CAI if you want results. My k&n drop in *maybe* got me another 1-2 MPG at best. You really won't get much results from any drop in, that's for sure.

Yeah, I'm running the AMSOIL filter. I had a K&N in there before, but switched over to the AMSOIL after finding out how awful the K&N filters particles. Gas mileage stayed the same as when I had the K&N in there, but I'm getting MUCH better filtration.

Re: K&N Air Filter Worth the Price?

Got mine from autoanything.com

Was only $34 and some change with free shipping when I ordered back in March. Can't believe the price has changed that much. Anyway, can't tell a difference in mileage, and only a slight difference in performance. Hope this helps.
