Bull Bar and License Plates

I've been wanting to get a bull bar and have seen the stainless ones going for as low as $175 on ebay. The problem is I have to have a plate on the front due to Illinois laws. I got pulled over once already when I didn't have it on. I had to mod my lower billet to make the plate work but now I'm wondering has anyone put a plate on or around their bull bar to be legal? If so, how did you do it to make it look nice?

Thanks,

Curtis

Re: Bull Bar and License Plates

Texas also has this issue... as well as many other states... Every truck and their Grandma has a bullbar on it in Texas.... That's gotta be common as nostril hair down there.....

I know I sent my front plate bracket to some guy in Maryland, I think... several others have done likewise. Maybe someone would give up the free one they got with their truck to help a fellow Titaniac out? You can modify that to attach to the bullbar, I'm sure.

Re: Bull Bar and License Plates

I am in TX and have mine mounted on the plate frame that came with it. Tilts down a bit but nobody has complained.

Yeah Illinois blows... front plates, no tinting on the front side windows but I haven't been stopped for that yet.

Re: Bull Bar and License Plates

This may work for you. But depends on if your bull bar has a skid plate or not, and will need the OEM bracket.

If you want to try and use the stock front plate mount the dealer gave me, your more than welcome to it. Its black plastic, the dealership drilled my skid plate with 2 differnet size holes and used 2 different size sheetmetal screws that one didn't even tighten all the way, just to put thier dealer logo plate on it. Needless to say that was the first thing I took off. Got some black plastic hole plugs and looks good now. U can have it, but it aint nothing special. It may cost more to ship it than to buy it new at an auto part store?!? Send a PM if you want it.

Re: Bull Bar and License Plates

I have an Aries Bull Bar. It was easy to just drill holes on the skid plate at the top where the skid plate meets the lower cross bar. I did not use the OEM frame. Sorry, I don't have pics.

Re: Bull Bar and License Plates

I'm in Texas and just recently got a "fix it" ticket for this. I used some aluminum stock I had to fab a mount. Riveted it to the Westin skid plate, and bolted the license plate to it. It's all pretty flush up to the bar, so my fabbed up bracket doesn't really show.

IMHO, the plate looks terrible on a bull bar no matter how it's mounted.
