VIN needed from SE Big Tow, please!!

I've been trying to order some black mirror caps for my 06 LE Big tow. So far my dealeraship has ordered some chrome caps, and also some black ones for non-Big Tow. Now they tell me they need the VIN from a vehicle that came stock with these.
I believe the SE with the big tow package had these. If someone would share their VIN I sure would appreciate it. If you want you can PM me. Thanks in advance.

Re: VIN needed from SE Big Tow, please!!

I have never heard of requiring a VIN to order a generic part, such as a mirror cap, before... I could understand the VIN being required for a component that would be truck-specific, but for a cosmetic part? Hunh... sounds like your stealership people may be pulling your leg because they're too lazy to search for the correct part... I am sure someone in TT has ordered just the caps and probably has the correct part number...

Here is some of what I found while searching threads regarding the same part:
Re: Mirror Cover Part # ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately at this time Nissan does not offer the black caps for sale as a single piece, that's why no one can find a PNs on them
Re: Question/Help...Black Big Tow Mirror Cover part #'s...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go to the dealer, give them your VIN number and they can pull up the parts and give you part numbers. Alot of peoples are looking for these and some even report that the dealers can even get them

Dealers do not sell the Black Covers, just chrome ones. Why I don't know, doesn't make any sense............

Anyway, from what I am told, parts are not listed in the dealership computer as model specific, but vehicle specific, hence the need for the VIN. No, it doesn't make sense because I've picked up parts for other Nissans I've owned with just the part number. Maybe it has to do with it being a cosmetic part?? I don't know.

My SE B/T has the chrome backs for the mirrors...I'd love to have the black ones instead...

Re: VIN needed from SE Big Tow, please!!

As of now Nissan DOES NOT offer the black caps for sale as parts. Why? I don't know.

From all the threads I have read on this, no one(that I have seen) has gone to the dealership with a VIN from an SE with BT to try and order these. If you have, or know somebody that already has tried this with the VIN, then let me know and I'll stop beating a dead horse.

Fair enough and you have a valid point. The info I got that it's not available is from a member who work for the dealership in the parts department. It was a few months back but I will ask him again in case things have since changed.
