Viper Alarm/Remote Start Installation Questons

I got a new Viper Alarm with remote start for my truck for christmas. It was purchased at best buy so the installation was free. So i dropped it off and ended paying another 130 for some security bypass cause our keys have infrared sensors in them. But when paying for the stuff I ask so does the horn make that Viper chirp? and he said no it was an extra 20 bucks to hook up the alarm???? and i was pissed cause if he would have said that earlier i would have told them to hook it up. Anyone know or have any tips on how to hook this up and what to hook it up to?

Infrared stuff in our keys? We have RF tags in them.

I bought the Viper 5701 LE Security with remote entry and rear defrost hooked up through best buy. I have to buy the key bypass because of the chip in the key but there was a bypass that did not require a key but they did not have it. I also had to pay like 30-50 dollars more for the rear defrost. That was only parts. I did not need to pay any more to get the alarm hooked up because that’s one of the functions of the viper and that has installation included in the purchase. I would go to the manager and tell them you want a credit back. They(the installer) are ripping you off.

I have been doing some research, and found out that anything extra you want done like those options is extra. Be sure you ask and state your concerns up front next time. What you get is a remote start system installed usually....the rest is extra.

Viper's website has the answers you need.

Good God, guys be careful when you pay for these *extras* the only thing required to hook up that rear defroster was a $3.00 relay and changing a built in setting on the alarm.
