I bought a Viair 450C to install in the truck. I plan to run a small tank for air tools and eventually a horn and air bags. Originally I had figured there was room to install the compressor and a small 2 gallon tank under the truck. After taking a look, I'm not so sure, so I'm rethinking my options.
Worst case I could install the compressor in the bed storage bin on the drivers side. It would fit nicely and keep it safe. I found a 1/2 gallon tank that SHOULD fit somewhere under the truck, but haven't found a perfect location. Problem with that is I'd have to run power all the way to the back, would rather the compressor be closer to the front.
Mount it where the spare is...It's about the only place!

I mounted mine in the bed of the truck along with a 3 gallon tank. I have a Retrax cover so its better protected. If you mount it under the bed be sure you use the snorkel.
The 1/2 gallon tank is WAY to small.

I prefer to keep my spare and I need all my bed space so its a no go for those 2.
If I decide not to go with the horns (OBA and lift bags are a greater need) then I could go 1/2 gallon I think. The complressor is a 100% duty cycle Viair.
Crawl under your truck and have a look back near the spare tire. You'll see quite a lot of room that is available there. Its even high and tucked up enough that it should be shielded from road debris getting tossed up into it.
I found this "well" of space when I was crawling around under there trying to find a place to mount a spare battery.
It would be a good place to mount a fairly good sized tank.
Regards,
John

Not sure if you have gotten what you wanted yet, but I have a 2 gallon tank and compressor mounted under the back seat (passengers side). Put both on a piece of diamond plate and added a wiring relay for ease of removal (without cutting wires each time). Here's my disclaimer: the air horn set up I bought was from Siege-Engineering. Less that a year old and the compressor won't fill past 110psi which means it will never shut off unless I turn it off. I'm very frustrated and their phone # isn't in service anymore! So I found they guys at Horn Blasters and ordered a whole new set up. It arrives Thursday. I'll follow up with a yes or no on the fit of the new equip. BTW - my setup is where the tank and compressor are seperate. (That said, mine are mounted next to each other, I bet if you get the combined set up, you can just mount it on it's side).
I've aired up several tires on trucks and ATVs. I added a quick connect so I can run my air tools but haven't actually done it yet. Best of luck on the install.

Just posted a thread on my install. Mounted the compressor and air tank (2 gallons) under the rear bench. Wanted to keep it out of the Colorado elements.

I would think having any compressor inside the cab would be uber annoying. Many compressors are loud enough you wouldn't be able to talk over the the noise.

Like I said in the install thread, it's not that bad. It only kicks on for 20-30 seconds. It's moderatly inconvienient - not so loud that you can't talk over it, but it is moderate. Again though, it only kicks on when I use it so I'm ready for it. If I'm using it for on-board air, I'm outside the truck and don't care. If I use the horn, I'm swearing at the clown that just deserved the blast or laughing at my buddies so it's no biggie then either. No disrespect to those that blast the random couple walking the street, but thats not my thing.
You can buy individual pieces or the entire kit from the folks at HornBlasters.com. Good group - very helpful and a great product.
