2nd muffler that blows...

Swapped out the glasspack (never meant to be permanent anyway) for a Flowtech Afterburner. At idle inside the truck, as quiet as stock. Above 2000 rpm, sounds great. At 55-60 MPH, in 5th, resontates like a bastard, worse than the glass pack if that is possible. I may try to get some audio outside the truck today and try to upload it later. I'm thinking maybe a Moroso spiral flow infront of the muffler, or a Dynomax bullet, will help diffuse enough sound to make it livable. That or a different tip cut to move the exhaust pulses out from under the bed. Hmmm, that might work.
I'll just need to make a zip folder for a .wav or .mp3 file, right?

I run dual flowtech terminators... Excellent sound and no drone - however this is on my 86 K20 4x4... On the 77 olds cutlass it has massive drone at 45mph.

I might just throw one onto the Armada and see, but I am thinking just going with the 3" banks setup.

How does the afterburner sound and did you see a difference in performance from the glasspack to the afterburner?

Thanks for playing around with various mufflers, it helps others!

Sounds

Here is a zip of the startup and a few revs of my Titan. They are .wav files encoded in mpeg3- all I know is that they work in Media player. I've added a resonated tip (3.5 inch, barely looks out of place) and actually, other than the nasty resonation of the exhaust around 55mph (starts right at 1500 RPM, to 1800 RPM, under a load) this exhaust sounds quieter that factory till you stand on it. Once past 1800, she quiets right down and sounds wicked outside. Been raining here on and off all day, so no g-tech runs, supposed to snow next few days. I may get some in cab sounds just so you can hear it. If is doesn't rain, I'll have driveby sounds, too.

Trust me, pay for the Banks on the Armada. On an SUV, you need a properly designed system to put the tone where it should be. I didn't expect a pickup to be so pissy about the exhaust. But, all my other trucks have been standard cabs. I'm going to go for a decent exhaust in a few months, I just want to see what else is going to come out. That, and I'll get an estimate at a muffler shop for a custom dual system, too.

I can see where your trying to go with this. The Toyota Tundra dual exhuast does sound good and it would be nice to see that type of exhuast offered to us. Your audio clips are very clear and I do like the sound. If I had that exhuast I sure I would burn more gas (mostly in my driveway anoying the neighbors). What did you use to capture the sound?

I used a friend's Digital8 Sony and ran it straight into my sound card on playback with a line adapter like you'd use on the Titan's aux jack. The crappy Windows sound recorder works halfway well this way.

No additional taping occurred this weekend, so I have no new sound files yet.
