First mod: Injen intake installed. Now I am ruined!

What is wrong with me? When I bought my 08 Titan it was supposed to be left alone. It was supposed ot be the nice big truck to do some hauling in that gave nice and comfy rides. It was my nice, comfy and stock vehicle. Besides, I have enough mods in my other cars! Then one day my friend came to me and said he found a guy that could get ridiculous pricing on anything I wanted for the truck and that he just got a set of rims for 50% off. That got the gears turning. I told him if he could get me an Injen intake and side step rails for 50% off, I'd do it. Stimulus package to the rescue! Well, he did one better. Not sure if this stuff "fell off the back of a truck", but I don't care. I got the Injen for $80 and a some step rails for $85, both brand new! I atcually have yet to get the steps (he has his car last night and didn't have room) but I got the intake last night and instantly installed it.

Install on the 08 was a little different then the directions, a couple extra bolts to remove, but nothing major. Took about 30 minutes and wow is it a worthwhile mod that looks great! Throttle response is the most noticeable gain. It felt much more resonsive to me. I couldn't tell you if the truck was faster but it FELT faster and sounds amazing at WOT. For those that want to know if there are any gas savings in the intake mod, let me tell you THERE ARE NONE!!! I just filled my tank and calculated it at 16MPG for that tank which was driven extremely civil. for reference, the truck computer was at 15.4. Intake went on and the test drive consisted of 3 0-60 pulls around the block and the computer now reads 14.9!!!! But I love it and don't care.

So now I am ruined. 4 months and 2000 miles in and the thing is modded already. Now I am looking at exhausts. This is not good. I already have 2 loud cars, no need to make the third one loud but I would love a little more rumble. I don't want anything too loud so it looks like the Stillen may be the answer, from what I am reading. I am going to force myself to do more research but I just wanted to thank the members here for all their stories/reviews because now, it is official, no stock vehicle is safe in my hands!!!

What took you so long? The bad thing is I don't think there's a 12 step program for modaholics.

it happens... what helps me is a super tight budget... you really have to work hard for your mods and keep a sharp eye..

Budget. It sucks having to be a responsible adult. On the plus side, it means that I never run out of things to do to my truck. All the goodies are necessarily spread out over a long period of time.

Re: First mod: Injen intake installed. Now I am ruined!

Budgeting isn't my problem. All I wanted was one nice and stock car. Fortunately, I won't be racing this one and it isn't like it is turbocharged or in need of massive upgrades (and I don't see myself boosting this truck... yet HAHA) so even with an exhaust and intake, it should still be somewhat civilized compared to my other toys. I just took it out for another spin this morning. Man, I love it! It even motivated me to fix an exhaust leak in the Galant that I have had for weeks. Now that runs good too... well... it runs better. HA! Now I just gotta wash and wax them all, take them all for a spin and do some more exhaust research.

You have many choices with exhaust, some much louder than others. Enjoy the hunt

Tell me about it! I am having a hard time. I think I need to hear them in person. Some videos are loud and others not, all of the same exhaust. Tough. Anyone in NJ with an exhaust want to meet up so I can hear your truck? After that, do I want a single exit, dual exit out the back or dual behind the wheels? Man, I need help!

Then again, do I want to drown out this awesome intake sound? Coming from smaller turbocharged 4s, the intake never did too much more then increase the volume of the turbo (which I love too!) so every time I read about someone else doing the intake I couldn't understand the big deal. Well wow, the sound on an NA V8 is incredibly noticeable. I am extremely happy I did this mod!
