K&N aircharger and xcelerator muffler instal

Installed an xcelerator muffler the day i bought my Titan.
made the motor sound better and may have increased performance. Two days ago installed a K&N air charger.
big difference in throttle response an acceleration.
K@N bought from ajusa.com,cost 253.00, free shipping.
Install was more complicated than my Tundra. Approx. 10
more parts. Install was still fairly easy.I believe that these two install give great bang for the dollars spent.

i got this from a site sell them....

In addition to great style, Filter Wraps also prolong the life of your K&N FilterCharger when used in extremely dusty conditions. Durable, double stitched polyester material traps dirt particles as small as .005" in diameter, yet adds less than 10% restriction to airflow. Custom made for each application to ensure a perfect fit. Available in Red, Blue, Yellow and Black.

Many thanks for the response. I'm fixing to install my AirCharger now - fingers crossed.

Great info, but I have a question, can somebody tell me how loud does the truck get at idle.
and if at cruising speed (80) the noise gets in the cabin... better yet, if it is louder than stock when not pressing.... I know if I press it gets louder which is ok, but I hope it is not louder at crusing

Anyway, thanks for the responces.

My concern was the same as yours when I first installed my filtercharger (K&N). Fortunately for the both of us, the filtercharger does NOT seem to increase noise in the cabin while cruising down the highway at speeds up to 80 mph. Above 80, I don't know, but who cruises that fast anyways. At idle, the truck sounds the same as with the stock airbox. BUT, its a different story anytime your foot ask it to accelerate hard. Be advised however that there is little change in noise from the stock system, if your gentle on the accelerator (ie. driving around town like a grandpa). I think you'll like it. It took me a few days to get used to the hard acceleration hot rod sound, but now I love it. If I could just keep my foot off the floorboard now, I'd see better fuel economy. One sidenote: I really haven't seen much of a fuel mileage increase as some are reporting. I really babied the throttle recently on a 5 hr. trip. The best mileage I saw was about 16.5 mpg. I used to get that with the stock airbox/filter system,,,,,,but I like the added power with the filtercharger.

Good Luck. Let me know what kind of mileage numbers you see. My truck is a crew cab SE with tow, offroad pkgs.

Mileage numbers with the K&N Filtercharger.

Sorry for my delay in getting back with the mileage numbers with the filtercharger setup. I love the power and sound, but I must admit, my mileage is staying about the same as it was with the factory airbox. On a recent 5 hr. drive, 100% highway at between 70-80 mph, I got about 16.5 MPG. I'm happy with the K&N filtercharger, but I was hoping for better fuel economy. I have a 2WD crewcab with tow and offroad pkgs.

Thank you for the nice and detail post.... I just filled up my truck (cc.xe no tow) and I got 15.3 mpg Normal driving, 100% city driving.... very very happy with the mileage, but of course always looking to improve it, although driving like a grandma is not right in my book, I believe the truck needs to be driven normal, soft here and there and hard here and there.. well back to the air filter.... hmmm does not seem to be a great improvement, I guess I will wait.... but did you disconnected the battery to let the brain accomodate for the air?.. well somebody said that it helped.... anyway, thanks again, back to the drawing board
Later.

Was that more 80 and less 70? I get about 16.7 MPG on the hgwy (fairly level) with 4x4, OR, Big Tow with cruise control at 75. Mileage has improved over time. Now at about 5,500 total miles.

my mileage has also improved over time also, im only sitting at 3100 miles, but every tank seems to get a little better, even if ever so slightly. it may be due to the banks exhaust, but either way it is getting better.

"Wraps" are what snobby people call burritos.

JK, I imagine they are referring to a thermal wrapping that keeps the air coming in a little cooler.

Cali-titan,

I drove on another 10 hr. trip this weekend. I got 17.6 MPG both tanks. This is my best mileage yet since the filtercharger was installed. And yes, I did disconnect the battery while installing the filtercharger. Considering that my mileage seems to be slowly increasing, maybe the brain is beginning to acclimate to the higher volume of air. Hope this helps in your decision. My suggestion would be to go with the filtercharger,,,,more power and better mileage all around, plus it sounds really cool.

Good luck

Do you need to cut anything from the original setup? I trade my trucks every year and would want to take the aircharger off before trading for the new truck. It would be nice if it was a simple bolt in replacement.

Cabin dB isn't increased during normal driving; to WOT and it sounds like a very mean American V-8. My Vette buddies really got off to the sound of the engine and exhaust as I was doing fly-bys and smoking one of their '04 Tahoes from dead stop or a roll - didn't matter.
I know, I know, pick on somebody my own size - nahhhhhh, I like kickin' butt.
With the exception of the SRT10 Ram, Ford Lightning and SS Silverado (all with very limited production & astronomical prices), they're all toast!
