Yes, the sand is pretty concentrated at the bumper opening, as evidenced by all the gravel in my heat exchanger fins.

well thats what the filter is for filtering incoming debris from the air

Ahh, I see, so the more debris in the filter the better? So maybe have an air intake pipe that actually drags in the dirt would be best?

Im waiting for Airaid, to see what they put out.

I like the volant, but still need to see the airaid unit.

whichever one cost less, thatd be the way to go since they accomplish basically the same thing and both have a functional heat shield. theres not a big diff. between then. if you plan on getting the volant i wouldnt get front snorkel add on though, the stock opening is more then enough for your intake to draw in air. they rip you off also charging alot for a $2 piece of plastic. like bestaschess is implying, its not the best of places to place a snorkle. it will shorten the life of your filter that much faster. for those who go off-roading or drive on tall grassy/dirt roads youd notice your filter getting dirty if not clogging up right away.
