My first HEMI kill!!

so im at the light and i look to the side of me and none other than a ram w/ a hemi badge pulls up next to me. i have my banks exhaust so i gave him a little vroom vroom to see if he'd look over, he did. the light goes green then we take off! i got him off the line and thru about 30 mph i had about 1/2 truck on him, he started to gain at about 40 and at 50 we were in a dead heat. but after 50 it was a different story. i started pulling away and by 65 i had about 1/2 truck on him. we got to the next light and the asswipe didn't even look at me. he made a right at the light and pulled away fast. i beat him barely by 1/2 truck, but i still beat the vaunted hemi!

Geez,

Who knows how much you would have beat him by if you hadn't "lost" all that low end torque with the Banks Monster Exhaust System. . . . .

hey hemi killer

had you been with the factory exhaust, you would have pulled him everywhere. look at it like this, you both have roughly a 350 engine, but the fact that you have quadcams, he can't possiblely deal with you on the top end, your engine just moves more air.

Somebody should make little stickers with the logos of Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota etc.... that you can put on the side of the truck under the V8 badge. Then it would look like the Word War II ace's planes with the kills painted under the ****pit.

Don't know where to begin with this one but here goes.

I have read, mainly on TitanTalk, that if the stock Hemi could beat the stock Titan it would be on the top end because that is where the Hemi has it's HP peak. Is this correct or not?

I have also read, mainly on TitanTalk, that the Banks may cause some loss on the low end because of the 3" pipes and low flow muffler but since there is less back pressure, any Hp gains should be further along on the power curve. This is because the 3" pipes allow for easier movement of exhaust, allowing the engine to breathe better. Is this correct?

Do you really believe that the Banks causes a loss on the low end, in the middle and on the top end, ("had you been with the factory exhaust, you would have pulled him everywhere.")???

37L1,

I could see how the Banks would loose a lil bottom end grunt but add it to the mid and top ranges.

That said, I think in stock form he would have gotten much more of a jump off the line than he did...but the longer you carry it out in stock form, the closer the Hemi is gonna get.

With his Banks setup....He looks like he still had enough low end to keep it close but now be closer to matching the Hemi in the mid area which is where he looks to have pulled him a bit...

If this would have gone on further, it would be interesting to see if the top end was equal enough to keep out front.

Chris

For me my opinion on street racing in any form disgusts me. Personally my feelings on anyone who does things like that on public streets no matter what time of day or where is moronic! Recently where I live several innocents have died from jerks racing on the street! Also several of the jerks racing too. It's really sick. If you or anyone in this forum want to run a real race they would do so on a public race strip. That's where the true race begins and ends.Too much unknown factors on the street. You never know how precious life is until you are about to lose it or someone you love is about to lose it. Get REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when your number's up, your numbers up... plus if you are a moron to begin with isn't it better to just eliminate one's self from the gene-pool, whether it be racing or whatever. with that said, stay away from morons!!!

anyheww, i like smoking the teen age racers and teaching them not to mess with a Titan, hehe j/k

37L1 & Chris, were on the same page. Also displacement has very little to do with appreciable difference.
I don’t realize any loss in low end but honestly I’m just not much in tune with performance since I typically drive like a blue hair “no disrespect.”

Since the Hemi seems on average to have more hp, yet the Titan has more Torque one would gather down line the Hemi is realing in the Titan if weight, gearing and conditions were matched. If indeed the Banks gives greater HP without true loss of low end torque it may even more interesting.

Mr. 1Titan, your post is a good reminder for those that think, & a clue for those that don’t.

1Titan you are absolutely correct about the innocent being the recipients of the moron's actions, especially the drunk. i'm one for a drink every now and then but i know not to drive when inebriated. as for racing you are also correct and i agree that any racing should take place on a legal strip. i'll definitely limit my dusting of hemis and racers to an 1/8 of a mile when conditions are safe. j/k plus why would i want to waste my gas, when i know what the results are probably going to be. getting old is tough--er to hold on to the past. cheers

Prometheus and everyone stay safe! We all know we got the Kick A Titan. Racing on the strip will impress more people then on the street. Also takes more guts because everything is laid out on the line. Take Care!

Titan21, do you have one of the packages on your truck that comes with the lower gearing (the Off-Road or Big Tow)?
