K&N ECU Reset

Should I reset my ecu after installing the K&N drop in filter? If so, how do I do it? What difference will it make?

You have to unhook the negative side of battery before install...After you complete the entire install then hook battery cable back up... This way you won't get a code and the engine will learn the new set up better...

I've been wondering if the ecu should be reset after exhaust mods. I installed a flowmaster dual set up.

Yes they should. When i got my flowmaster installed at the muffler shop, the guy even showed me that he unhooked it so the computer could reset after it was all done.

Do you know how long it must remain unhooked to reset, or is it just instant? I'll go disconnect it now and let it sit for a little while.

ecu reset help

Yes you should disconnect the negative side of the battery. For at least 30 minutes, this will allow the computer components to discharge. And the second thing that you should do is pump the brakes to discharge any remaining power inside the electrical system. This will allow for a more complete reset.

If you just leave the door open for a few minutes, any remaining power is drained through trying to light the dome lamps.
