Whats the deal I am am averaging 11-12 mpg at 2800 miles with an intake and exhaust--do I need to make a run to the dealer to check the engine out?? It seems everyone else if getting over 15mpg
I know there was another thread on this subject, but I'd like to see a recap of MPG data from owners of 4x4 Offroad, since this is what I'll be picking up this Thursday. Thanks, guys.

We are absolutely not all getting over 15. Over the last 3800 post break-in miles, my best tank has been 15.9, lowest 12.0, and average is 14.0. And I have only recently seen it start improving. 4x4 offroad is not real good.
i wish i could keep my foot outta mine so i could get 15-16. oh well, it sure is a great truck regardless of mileage. i didnt buy it for its fuel economy, lol.
I average between 12-14 and have never done any better, regardless of circumstances. I have never felt any reason to be concerned. I feel that if the motor were having problems, I would definitely see other signs. Needless to say...I don't.

My mileage improved at about 5,000. I get 16-17 driving conservatively, stock intake & exhaust.
ive never actually checked my mpg bc i can never keep my foot out of it either BUT it does seem like the needle has been going down slower and slower as the the truck gets more miles on it (just rolled over 4000!) 2wd kc no big tow/no off road

my le 4x4 big tow off road crew cab got 16 on a trip to dallas last week, averages less than 12 in the city. i commute less than 6 miles a day on way, so it hardly gets warmed up. mileage is better at 6k miles than when new. like it threw a switch around 5k , performance and mileage up.
9-12 sounds about right for pure city driving.I have a 2WD KC XE with the 2.94 rear end.In pure city driving I get 10-12,just like you.
In the "best tank" survey 4WD Big tow Titans averaged 16+ in pure highway driving, and a couple got 18 with conservative hy driving. Big Tow cost less than 1 mpg hy, having 4x4 cost maybe1- 1.5 mpg hy.City mileage is about the same for everyone.Luck,Charlie.
Why don't some of you try this: Keep the tach under 2000 for 1/2
a tank or there abouts. That means no hard acceleration but you
can still cruise at 65. I tried that and got 17.4 mpg in suburban
driving. Went back to my normal mode where I do a little Ram
hunting and got 14.2. So for me, it's all in the foot pressure!
4x4 kc with off road, 15mpg mixed commuting ( some city some freeway), checked after a 1000 mi road trip, 19.1 mpg with cruise set at 70-75. just over 4000 miles on odo.
is there any reason for the huge change in gas milage with the breakin?
I just drove to vegas this weekend (about 250 miles each way) and set my cruise at 70-75 the whole way....tail gate down and i was very nice to the gas pedal.
i got no more then 13 mpg! I thought this truck was rated at 19hwy/14city?
i have about 1700 miles on my 4x2 kc.
at what miles should i see an improvment? my truck is eating my wallet quicker then i can fill it.
smoketitan - I am regularily getting approx 12.5 for city driving, 14 or so for mixed city/highway (more city tan highway) and have a best of 18.005 for highway. It seems to me that anything over 2000 rpm on the highway causes the mileage to fall. For the 3.36 guys that means 70 mph and for the 2.93 it means approx 80 mph.
