Yep, I bought and installed the dreaded JBA's.
Would definitely go with the Nismo or Stillen options if I had it to do over again as the things were nothing less than a nightmare to install.
Finally got them on and drove from my parent's place in Houston back to Austin and now after 200+ miles of driving have the P1273 (lean A/F bank1) SES light on. My cracked stock manifolds didn't even turn on this light and it is extremely disappointing.
I contacted JBA this morning, and their response is that they have never seen their headers cause this light before, so I am left with the choice of taking everything back off and changing the gaskets to be 100% certain that they aren't leaking air at the block, or taking it to the dealer to sort out. I've already swapped the O2 sensors from side to side and the code returned without changing banks so I know they are good.
I've already checked the intake for leaks, and cleaned the MAF, but after clearing the code and putting the computer back into learning mode the code returns within 30 miles of driving.
The power gain is clearly noticeable over 3200RPM, with the torque curve seeming to have picked up throughout. Definitely the right way to replace the stock manifolds, but now I am seriously doubting the quality of JBA's testing with this repeating code. If anyone has a suggestion on another possible fix please toss it out here.
Bah, Hadn't thought it might be the tune.
I'll swing over there tomorrow morning
I'm just glad they are local.
Its definitely your tune, your trucks running lean cause of the new header install. After you retune you should be just fine with zero codes again. Youll feel an even bigger power increase after its properly tuned with headers.

So simply adding headers will need the truck to be retuned?
In most cases yes.

I wonder how my nismos will do once slapped on.. Do you really notice a difference with headers? And then again with a retune? Pretty excited I just am afraid to tackle the install myself.
I put my headers on last week and Im not throwing any codes. Althought I am still running the factory muffler till tommorow. I'll see if that will make it throw a light.
well, I took the truck in and the tune works great. Unfortunately this morning the light came back. Same P1273 code >.<
I've been driving it for 2 weeks now with no problems and then BAM. Light's back.
