Don't know if you caught this in the Socal pics thread:
There was another Titan there about 8:30am this morning. I thought it was one of our guys but its not. Just so happens, he was the BORLA Western Regional Sales Manager. His truck goes 'IN' Monday for a 'True Dual' exhaust setup. More to follow on that later after its done. I have pointed him to this site as well and hopefully he too at some point will be a vendor. Just another option in the exhaust department!
I have e-mailed him and will try and get together with him after it is completed to 'see' it in person as well as 'hear' it. Very nice guy and wanted to let everyone know I am going to try and keep a dialog open with him.

Chris,
I am thinking that there are maybe others out there like me who are hesitant
about paying 500+ for a single exhaust system like the Banks. A stainless
steel true dual large bore bolt on cat-back system might get me to whip out
the check card.
I also have the same feelings about the step rails. I think chrome would
look better with the Sedona color, but I don't like the way the nerf bars I
have seen curve back under the truck. I like the look of the factory rails,
just wish you could get something like them in chrome.

Am I being too picky?

I don't think so. Its your truck and you want it to look a certain way. Have you contacted someone like say the guys on ebay that chrome wheels to see if they could do a set of factory bars for you? Maybe not the most inexpensive way to go...but it would give ya the look.

No, I too want a true dual exhaust. I don't understand why the factory exhaust comes from two cats into a Y going into a single muffler. Kind of crazy. They did the same thing on the 350Z, I plan to change that also.
I also don't like how the nerf bars curve back into the truck. I want Westin to make their Oval Steps available for the Titan. They don't know yet if they are going to make them available for the Titan. Basically they are a chrome version of the Nissan step rails.

How exactly are they to make a true dual on the Titan? Have you looked underneather your truck? There's no way to route the pipe except for the way they've done it. Yes you could run true dual, but the pipe from the driver's side would still have to cross over and you'd have to have two mufflers mounted side ways side by side. Just a bit pointless just to say it's "true dual."
If it is from Borla it WILL NOT be a true dual system. All of thier kits that are "dual: persay have a dual outlet on the muffler that comes out on both sides of the truck.probably will sound pretty good, but will not perform any better than the single from Banks, gibson or JBA & the cost will be MUCH higher..my best guess based on their traditional pricing for their "dual" kits...$800 list price or thereabouts
Was is Scott Orem that you spoke with?..I think he is the guy that represents Borla on the west coast
I was going to say the same thing Jeepinfun, but I didn't want to speak too soon. Borla seems to be way too high priced IMO. Seems more marketing hype than actual quality or performance.
not saying that their products will not hold up,they will. But, for the price you pay for it there are other choices out there that IMO would be a better option.I.e Banks or JBA.I have used and Installed Borla stuff in the past and had mixed results. Some fit well, others fit like crap which really P***ed me off considering what i paid for it.

Sammy - I understand your point, however my Titan which is at Borla R&D Now will have the same basic true dual system the Borla 350Z system has on it. I looked at it this morning (5/18) and the prototype will be done this afternoon. And, yes it is two pipes running down the passenger side which will split and go out behind both tires at first and then a split rear. As soon as it is done, I will post the pictures and the dynos.
Guys, just passing on what I discussed with him. I got a reply from him last night and I am going to go see it after its done. I also answered a question for him regarding the tool box as far as a measurement. I pointed out that with the trailer hitch on it too this could make a difference. I forwarded my numbers to him.
While I agree from my one time experience of buying a borla exhaust..it was expensive...but it was worth it.

Wow! Sorry if I offended any of the "muffler gods" with my diction.
I should have said that I would prefer a stainless bolt on with a dual
in/out muffler. I also don't like the way the Banks exits the rear. I
would prefer the pipes run completely out the back, even if they had
to be side by side.
Maybe we could replace that pesky and expensive to fill gas tank with
a two litre coke bottle under the hood. That would give plenty of room
for exhaust and improve our drag strip times! How bout a dual in/dual out
coke bottle that would include the O2 sensor? J/K

You are right, the Borla is higher than most but consider the differences: Borla uses T304 Stainless, million mile warranty and can back up the performance gains. Banks and JBA either use aluminized steel or T409 stainless and offer only a LIMITED lifetime warranty. Guess what the limited is for? Rust and corrosion! The Borla will last the lifetime of your vehicle and the Banks and JBA will be replaced, depending on where you live, up to 3 or 4times. A couple of hundred dollars up front will save you hundreds down the road. When the dynos come off I will post them.
