I had my install completed today---and wow is all I have to say. I went with a magnaflow 5x8 oval all alumized pipes (as I am broke), dual in , dual out. The magnaflow has a x already in it so I didnt get one (I know sammy is going to flame me for this one ) ---but we called magnaflow three times to make sure I didint need it. I went with 2.25" pipes all around--with dual side outs, and 3.5" 45 degree cut magnaflow Stainles tips. they cut the y pipe out, and brought the pipes forward and around the spare like everyone else I assume. They cinched up the brake lines, and re-routed the other black line
(dont know what it is for), and placed a heat sink on the exhaust pipe. I think I will still put some heat reflecting wap on the lines. The only bad thing was on the left exhaust the pie was kinda gnarly near the tip, it is fine, just not very pretty--you can only see it from under the body though. If it becomes a problem with weat I have a warranty--so I am not worried too much
The sound is great---defintely got the rumble that I wanted. I can spin my tires instanly now (Causing the slip light to come on), and with the volant it allowed the auto tranny to smooth out the gear changes (which only happened until the exhaust). I would say I get the most beef right at the beginning,and from 50-80 mph. So I dont know what that means in terms of actual numbers. I will be getting headers in a month or so, and then I will add the dyno numbers. but I love the sound, the feel, and I got it all for 400 out the door so I am happy, and I thinkg they did a good job. Oh it took them 2.5 hours using two people. THX BIG TIme TO SAMMYSANDBAG, and TNT TITAN FOR ALL THE HELLP AND CLARIFICATION!!!!!! pictures below

Shouldn't affect anything with sensors, emmissions, reducing back pressure is the reason for aftermarket exhausts. The X-pipe magnaflow seems like a gimmick to me, but that's just IMHO. The X needs to be placed further up the line to do any good, with it in the muffler it's just a reason to charge more. As far as pricing goes, I have no idea how much that muffler costs, so I couldn't tell you. I got my whole set up dual in/out with Flowmaster 70, 2.25 pipe, 3.5" chrome tips, and a stainless steel X-pipe installed for around $400.
yo sammy so I understand---I dont need to worry about the sensors---thats cool--so i am definetely going dual then---but in regards to the dual should I have them install a xpipe or and h pipe after they cut the y pipe and route the new lines like your setup?? I am tying to retain as much low end as possible
Definately go with a crossover pipe. X or H, it's a toss up. I've heard convincing arguments for both designs. X will cost a bit more, that's what I settled on, but an H should do the job just fine. The differences are minimal. I would save money and just get a plain baffled or straight through muffler instead of the Tru-X. I would recommend 2.25" pipe throughout if you are going with the dual/dual set up.

Looks great smoke!!! Anyway you can get some sound bites?? I'm torn between the Flowmaster 70 series (provided by sammy, love the sound) and the Magnaflow (previous experience and I love their sound).

Sammy, when it comes to X and H pipes locations, what are you basing your statements on? I guess I'm curious because it appears your the local resident expert on this topic and I'm wondering where your getting your info from. Do you have actual dyno knowledge of this subject?

EDIT: I'm not trying to be a smartass and call you on this subject, I'm truly interested in some technical data concerning this topic because I've researched the heck out of this exhaust issue and want to change my mine as well.
I've always thought the purpose of an X or H pipe was to make a V8 sound better. Since a V8 doesn't have an even firing order like an L6 or V12, and fires at non equal degree's of crankshaft rotation(this is much more pronounced on a V6),so I've always thought the x pipe was used to interconnect the 2 exhaust banks and even out the exhaust pulses, i'm sure this also provides a small performance increase as well. Just chimming in, still trying to learn this V8 stuff.
SmokeTitan, looks nice. I am going will duals in the next few months. SupraTitan, since both his pipes hit the magnaflow on the input, wouldn't that bring the sound together at the muffler? Maybe eliminating the need for X or H? Trying to learn myself, any suggestions appreciated.

, but the guys who installed mine --said it wasnt needed with the magnaflow as it has x pipe built inside. WE called magnaflow and they aid it would be cool this way, but Sammy seems to really good on these questions and recommended the x pipe to me, so I would say clarify with him as I am still a little confused on the whole deal. anyway It sounds a lot meaner than I thought. I have heard the flow 70, and the magnaflow on other cars--but the installer said mine sound WAY better than imagined since I also have the intake, and the more air incoming makes it sound like I have glass pipes if that helps. Quieter at idle--(almost unnoticeable that the car is on), and freeway than the stock, but man oh man when you hit the gas it rumbles something serious. I will try and find a way to upload sounds--if someone has any ideas let me know
oh yeah jsut no though that when you hit the gas even under simple accleration it sounds like you are in a old pontiac ( as my wife likened it to) so if you cant taek the rumble dont spend the money. and DO NOT GO OVER 2.25 on the pipe as it will be WAY loud with duals

You are correct Sir about balancing the pulses for a little gain.
Back in the "old days" (some of you may remember this) with true duals we spray painted both exhaust pipes from the header/manifold flange back, cranked and ran it until hot, then placed the H-pipe where the paint had quit peeling off. Now I'm really showing my age.
