Just spoke w/Volant tech support

Regarding the problems I've had with my truck since Volant install and my problems with the fit an finish of the Volant I received. The tech stated:
*The box should have two holes that line up with factory holes
*Inner tube by MAF should be smooth
*Box should seal well against the inner fender
*No cutting or bending of the factory mounting bracket by the firewall should be required

It seems I was shipped an early "prototype". They are shipping a new unit out immediately.

Thanks again to Jamie at titanparts247.com for his assistance.

**they also recommend a 3.5 inch "rubber drain cap" from a hardware store to plug the ram air hole

good deal bro--I am glad it worked out for you. I do think you will still have to bend the factory bracket near the windshield to get the volant box in---but CONGRATS on getting the new box like mine.

I asked him specifically about that, his reply was these are engineered for drop in/bolt in style replacement with no mods. I suspect there are boxes out there that represent an evolution of the design. Hopefully the one I get is as advertised.

the bolt in holes match up exactly with the stock holes--even thoug I only used one stock bolt to hold the volant box in place as it fit snug with just one. the two hoels that line up are for the the one bolt that is inside the stock box, and the one where every one is saying you may have to remove the washer tank. I dont know on mine though I just had to pull the stock box up and it came free. In regards to the fender wall the oval shape fit right into the stock fender opening. I think mine fit so well as I actually forced the volant intake line a little closer to the wall I still had to bend the mounting bracket though like you did. I dont really want to take it apart (for pics of the two holes inthe bottom)--I thought everyone had the same--but if you need them to get another model--let me know and I will gladly take it apart and take pictures in the morning and post them. I can defintely post the fender wall pics tommorrow though.
