Magnaflow put on today

I just picked it up from having the Magnaflow put on. It is the 5"X8" single in\dual out. I must say I am surprised at how quiet it is. I guess I was so used to hearing the Flowmaster 40 series on my Chevy.

I am going to go disconnect the battery now.

BTW- how have you guys been collecting the sound samples?

I will take pics later, the tips didn't come in in time and will be put on Friday.

First attempt at capturing sound clip

I used my laptop on the tailgate with the built-in XP sound recorder.

The tips are not on there yet, just raw pipe. The guy said they should make it sound better. They are the 3.5"X4.5" doublewall Magnaflow tips and should be in tomorrow, just wanted to get the other muffler and tailpipe off since it was bent so bad from getting rear-ended.

Thanks Sammy, I was really torn between another Flowmaster and the Magnaflow. Your sound clips convinced me I had to have duals again. I wasn't going to mess with it until then.

I am honestly hoping it will get a little louder, but I do like the smoothness of it.

I left the battery disconnected all night last night. I can feel a little difference in the throttle, not much though. It was mostly for appearance and sound. And better MPGs, maybe a little. Any little bit helps.

Thanks to Sammy, SmokeTitan, and all the others for all your posts. They really helped a lot.

Honestly dude, I haven't driven it enough to really notice it. But I will listen for it now and post when I get back from driving.

I assume you mean the popping that occurs after the loud roar from the muffler?? IF so I get it every now and then-maybe more when it is cold than anything--but not very often at all --I have heard it maybe twice over the last three weeks. If it is really pronounced say it happens all the time I would suggest taking it in for a look from the installer. did you get the newer stainless model or is your aluminized--make sure you check the part number off the website--as they have newer models which supposedly dont have that kickback sound that you are talking about.

From what I have researched that sound is from the is the build of the magnaflow. true flowmaster purist hate the sound as they feel it sounds "rice" ish. Now this is purely subjective research from the three f150 fourms, and magnaflow forums that I know of,and my installers opinion. the flows dont have that kickback sound and sound beefier--but they are way louder and have a larger resonace band than the maganflows--meaning your car will most likely reverberate on the highway and not on s small range like mine does.

I also heard that you are more likely to retain factory low end with the maganflows than the flows ( but this last one could be due to the fact that most trucks go with the flow 40 because they are WAAAY loud---but kill the engine output)

so I am sure sammy wll be better able to answer this ( as he seems to e the resident expert on this). but if it tooo bad take it,and they can "tune the sound" to see if there are some loose bolts, or a open pipe somewhere at a weld or something. I am taking mine in on friday to have them check out the resonace sound I asked you about

I would recommend you though to get a intake, or a just a high pass filter as it really is a nice combo

late

Cool, I will keep an eye, uh ear on it. Also, I was planning on just adding a replacement K&N air filter. It doesn't look like the guys are getting much out of the CAI's and I don't want to shell out the $$$ for it.

Thanks for the response
