got my gibson sweptside stainless. Measured it at 2.5 inch outside diameter for the dual header pipes running to the Y. The Y outlet is 3 inches as is the outside of the single mid-pipe back to the muff. the muff is 3 inch in and out. the tailpipe is 3 inch. the mid-pipe has full-length insert in it with many little pea sized bumps in a swirl pattern - voodoo engineering. The muff is straight through but has a chamber mid way. also full of little bumps the whole length...to catch sound I guess.
Unfortunately, it looks like the header pipes are bent in too close to each other to fit up with the the stock cat pipes/resonator. don't know what I will have to do on that yet....
so, gibson isn't really so much different from the the banks.

Big difference: The Banks fits perfectly with no issues or problems.

I bought the Gibson for my previous S-10 Crew Cab. The clearances and alignment were poor and it could not be made to not rattle against the frame. Also melted the rustproofing off the frame at that point. Worked on it for a long time. Gibson finally sent me a new tailpipe and it did the same thing. I ended up trashing the Gibson and putting on a Flowmaster 50 Delta with the factory tailpipe and Gibson entry pipe. I won't buy another Gibson.
Hour and half and it was on. Pretty loud in the cab easing around town. the air intake is louder at full throttle though. There was a slight misalignment of the driver's side bolt up to the cat/resonator pipe but it pulled together. Otherwise seemed to go together and give the right clearance everywhere. I'm going to have to give it a week or so to see how it runs. I don't feel some giant surge from 1800 to 3000 rpm as advertised but it will take some time for the ECU to adapt. juma
I'm glad other companies are producing products for our trucks. I know that the Gibson has been out for months, but alot of the people who are the type to add aftermarket exhaust had already purchased the Banks because it came out alot sooner. Unfortunately, not alot of tuners were left on this forum who were willing to get the Gibson, so I'm glad you did. I'm interested in power to power comparisons with the Banks. As the Gibson is newer, its possible they learned from Banks and produced a better (more powerful) kit, right? Sometimes releasing a product first is like stepping on your own ... weener. Someone else will take more time and make a better one. This is what I'm waiting for. Is the Gibson more powerful? We'll have to see.
As for Juma, thanks for taking the time and money to try out this product. Hope it works out. How is the exhaust note? This will probably change over the next 1000-2000 miles as the exhaust breaks itself in.
today, the motor seems a little stronger. I guess it is adjusting the ECU parameters. I will hook it up to my ACTRON III super scanner this week and see what is happening with the timing, IAT temp, and load measures. juma
I don't have a way to get a clip. the one on gibson's website for a titan is pretty close if it was turned up about 10 times louder. juma (thinking maybe this wasn't the one to get)
it is highly unlikely that the gibson system will be any better than the Banks since it came out later. As some of the posts above indicated, gibson has never been known for their fit quality and the banks kit fit perfect first time.Looks like JUMA's may have turned out ok,but I have had many problems with Gibson stuff in the past and they will not get my $$ again.
spoke with gibson today and they said the slight misalignment should not be a problem and that the sound level was what it is. I further note that the gibson hangs lower than the stock muff, almost as low as the differential. I think its going to work out but I guess I'm gonna have to say I can't really recommend it.
If I can't get something done to fix the droning, I'll have to change mufflers or put the stock back on.
been getting a lot of vibration but it took me awhile to separate it out from other input - turns out I think the misalignment of the Y pipe puts the system under tension and makes it more prone to conducting vibration. the tailpipe was shimmying even. Gibson agreed to send me another Y - pipe so we'll see...maybe this thing ain't so bad after all.
The ECU has adjusted now and it does feel stronger. You can feel the tires almost kicking loose at 30-40 mph when I punch it. Hope to get a gas mileage chech sometime in the next few weeks.
I had a Corsa system on my Tahoe- it had an audio cancelling type muffler and was almost as quiet as stock at 1800-2200k, but had a nice sound when accelerating. I wonder if they're planning on making one for the Titan...
