I would llike to get a 'semi-truck sounding' air horn. How do you like yours? Do people move out of your way? I had a lady cut me off and I laid on the horn, she just kept coming over. I finally had to move into the emergency lane, drift back over into her, and force her back into her lane to make my point (yeah, I know.. grow up right? I was pissed). I think if my horn sounded like a freight train, she would have listened and not have kept coming into my lane.
How do you like yours, where did you get it, how much, etc? THanks-Paul

the airhorn combo is done thusly - you have to get an amp. the cheap way is to find a copcar siren amp on ebay. they have settings for the siren, yelp, and airhorn and you just leave it on airhorn unless you want big trouble:>) then you gotta get a speaker. again ebay is a good place to find one. the flattest thinest one you can find will be the easiest to put on. then its just wire it up and have a button in the cab or hook to your horn. rumrunner has his replacing his horns. You can buy new equipment from www.galls.com a cop supply place. they even have an airhorn amp, no siren component. that is what I have plus a selection of speakers but haven't had time to work out an install yet. rumrunner had a post or two on his install and you could search for it. the airhorn sounds pretty much like the spirit of new orleans running a 100 mph down the big track. juma
ok people, not to be rude or anything but i started this thread to get ideas for my truck!
hahahahahahahha! ok you need, stainless steel braided brake lines and ATE super blue fluid. you need to get those 22 bux helper springs to control the rear end. You need a bigger aluminum differential cover. to top it off, you need to get a full set of electric fans and get rid of the crank turned fan - worht about 20 hp. you ever heard of "traffic backers?" you need some. its a swithching thing that flashes your rear brake lights and back up lights. very useful for signaling tailgaters to back off. juma
Juma, I think I want to go with an "Air Horn" not an electronic horn. The air horn has a very small compressor and simply has an air line running to the horn. There is not really an amplifier required.
Also, I saw those brake light modulators on Ebay for about $10. They wire in line and work great. I would like to have one of those so when you are in rush hour traffic the dumb soccer mom behind you in the Suburban knows to get off the phone and use her brakes.
Bestitan, as far as other mods? Just get what you want to personalize your vehicle. Some guys tint their windows, get rims, billete (sp) grille, if you have SE or LE you can get the XE grill surround that is paint matched to the truck, instead of that chrome.
If you have any package level, you can paint the mirrors and handles to match the truck, if you have SE,LE you can take off the side moldings/get the holes filled. If you have XE you can put the moldings on. You can get a roll pan, fiberglass fenders, fiber glass hood, Cowl hood, or just an add-on scoop,
Cold Air intake, headers, NOS, the list goes on and on. Do whatever you like best to personalize your ride. It just sucks to pull up to a stop light and be sitting right next to the same exact looking vehicle as you are driving. (and with some more mods under the hood you will be sure to be the first truck to the next stop light )
Try Juma's throttle body bypass. DIY. Takes about 5 minutes and cost you about $2 and probably good for 1hp and a couple of degrees off the intake's air temp.

space is the problem, UNLESS, you are going to mount them on top of the cab? juma
I mounted the Hella air horns in the front of the radiator. The relay can be mounted anywhere, and you just wire per the destructions. i would also recommend that you get an in-line fuse, wired in the hot side. the air horns are visible through the bottom grille and looks cool. http://www.autoworldfx.com/products/...=1090806007890

After spending much time under the hood, I have noticed the vast amount of space down low below the grill. I would do what every one else does with air horns... mount them behind the front bumper or right below the grill as the above did. Piece of cake. The last one I had came off of an old crumbling factory in Mexico. The warehouse thing had about 3 or 4 of them up on tall posts and a buddy of mine helped me knock one of the posts down and remove the horn. Loudest damn thing I have ever heard. Wasn't longer than maybe... 10-12 inches or so.

hmmm...I've got one about a foot long I'd liketo mount but haven't found a good place. the below the grill doesn look that good to me and I'd want it to point to the outside rather than the back of a bumper. we'll see....juma
Had that horn pointing sideways, and it was loud enough to hear for about 1000 feet in any direction. It was about the same tone as one of those LARGER air horns you can buy at a race shop, that runs off the 12-20 oz. CO2 cans, but this one had an immense amount of volume. It is hard to describe the sound. I'm sure it could give you a heart attack. I never let it off with someone standing near it because it could probably cause hearing damage.
The times that I used it offensively were getting cut off of course, and my did they swerve out of the way. I think it scared the crap out of most people. Emptied a 10 gallon air tank in about a minute or so.
I'm not really interested in that kind of volume again, I don't need people shooting at me...
I just wanted something smaller like those cheap kits you see at AutoZone or Pep Boys but of a slightly higher quality and better, tractor-trailer type of sound, ya know!?
