Listen to my dual in/out Flowmaster 50 series exhaust

Well I finallly got off my dead *** and recorded my exhaust. I have 2 smaller clips and 2 larger clips.
start up and couple of short revs
one short rev..... small file
pulling out into trafic then onto back road and romping it
start up and drive normal for a minute one short acceleration at the end This last one shows how quiet it is when just cruising normal speeds. I hope these help some of you pick which muffler to go with the 70 a little quieter or the 50 a little louder. By the way there is no h or y or x pipe on this exhaust.

by the way it was done for $350 . cut off after the cats and everything back replaced. I have 3 1/2 inch chrome tips coming out behind either tire at a downward angle. It looks really cool.

price seems reasonable. Would it not perform better with an X pipe?

I asked the muffler guy. He said the way it is its run straight through with just a few bends. He said I should get maximum flow the way it is. I am no hot rod guy so I don't know. I did ask him though. He told me he would put it in if I wanted but that is was a waste. I like the way it sounds and I feel more power on top end. Could be in my head though.

Sorry man, I have been deep in thought. It is so hard to decide what to get. I like the angle of your tips better than Sammy's staight ones. I think I am also going to go with the 70 series because it is a little quieter. I wish there was a straight answer about the cross over pipes. One says yes others say no. Have you noticed a MPG increase? I just don't know what to do. Either way, great sound and look man. Also, the addition of headers would make the sound even louder right?

In this months Truckin magazine, they state that a double cross-over pipe or X-pipe is only effective if the muffler is restrictive or the engine is putting out more than 350 hp. If your going with a free flow muffler than according to them your not going to gain anything.....

Thats basically the same thing the muffler guy told me when installing my setup.
By the way I love your truck man. Only thing I hate is the chrome front ends. I just couldn't afford the crew cab. I really like the silver trucks though. I got lucky finding mine that color.

I have another question, what exactly do you gain from replacing a y pipe with the dual from the cats with a cross over pipe before the muffler? Aren't they pretty much the same thing all things considered?

not really. The idea behind an "X" or "H" pipe is to equalize pressure between both tailpipes. You still have seperate mufflers and pipes -- but the pressure would be equal between them.

then I hope it can really flow well... And that your outlet is pretty big.

Is the stock config 1 outlet or 2?

I am trying to weigh the differences between the set up that sammy sandbag has(ie dual in dual out 70 series FM with a X pipe) and a 3 inch in dual out FM 70 with a y pipe.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. You know what Sammy has and I have the larger Y-pipe, single in, dual out FM 50 series. I bet there isn't a hill of difference between the 2 concerning sound or dyno results...

I could get some sound bytes if I knew how to get them on pixagogo where I keep my pics. hmmm, I'll have to research this.
