Banks vs 40 series flowmasters

i have a bit of a problem; i am torn between getting the banks kit, because it has proven gains and is built by a respectable company, and doing a custom flowmaster exhaust.

I want dual exhaust, but the banks doesnt have that and i cant say that i am a fan of how the tip looks.

my question is how will the gains and the sounds compare between the 40 or 50 series flowmasters to the banks?

All I know is I have a 50 series and I really dont think you want a 40 unless you want to sound like a hot rod. It would be really loud. You can listen to my 50 series in this forum.

then just change out the banks tip for something you like better..there is no quality comparison between a banks kit and an aluminized type system.

Corsa is developing a system for the Titan. I spoke with Jeff (think that was his name) and they've been monitoring the forum. Corsa makes some killer exhaust systems...easily on par with Borla. Check out http://www.corsaperf.com and listen to those sound clips!

Would you think there would be a big difference in the gains between a 40 series and a banks system?

also, wouldnt switching out the tips affect the banks system because the system is optimized for that particular tip?

NO, Some members here have taken off the banks tip in favor of another style and preferred it.That will not affect anything. As far as gains they will probably be similar initially,But: if you plan on adding additional mods down the road, i.e intake, chip etc etc where better exhaust flow is helpful then the Banks will certainly be better for you because of its straight through design

try the flowmaster delta series, they advertise better milage gains from the delta, only they dont offer the delta in dual-in dual out config.

I have a 50 delta flow 3"in 2.5 dual out with dumps at the rear axel. It has a deep mellow sound at all speeds. Just a tad bit louder inside. Much better sound outside. I dont like the banks sound because it sound to broken up. Not real smooth.

If you want dual exhaust, I highly recommend the magnaflow dual in/out. Several people on here have it and have been very happy. I just got mine dome today and really like it. Nice growl but smooth- I think it is a lot nicer sound than the banks (my .02)

*EDIT

I meant done not dome- I have seen a few spelling police on here!

Flowmaster 50 question

Could you tell me the specs of your 50 series system? I am looking at the Banks Monster Exhaust, but I loved the sound of your truck. How much did it cost and what parts did you add?

Thanks

www.bbtriflo.com makes an exhaust now as well even though they don't have the sound clip up yet.

I personally loved their exhaust note over anything else on an LS1 motor.

BB triflo and corsa both make nice products, but you will likely pay a hefty price to get one and IMO not worth it.Sound is subjective to everyone so go with the one that sounds best to you.Personally I like the Banks stuff and also like the fact that many if not most of the nissan performance dealerships offer and endorse the Banks kits.A little extra piece of mind is a nice thing to have

I have the B&B on my LS1 and I get many compliments. it isnt the best flowing muffler out there (that is why I have a cutout), but I can attest that it sounds exotic and has zero drone, even with longtubes on an automatic car!! The sounds will cost you $$.
